The AHSAA has decided to expand the Girls to 2 classes for the 2024-2025 season. Alabama might be the first state (and if not the first then amongst the first states) to have the girls in more than one classification. We are currently gathering more information on the reasoning for the expansion and what the opinions are, but for the time being we are focusing solely on outlining what next season will look like. The google sheet below has 3 tabs (6A-7A, 1A-5A, and Not listed in New Classes) .. look for the spreadsheet to be updated as we are able to collect information.

A few things to keep in mind when looking at last year’s data:

  1. There was not a sectional qualifier for the girls state tournament (almost positive this is the case … if it is not please let me know). Meaning that most girls that wrestled the season had an opportunity to wrestle in the state tournament (Central Phenix City had 18 that wrestled in the state tournament, Daphen had 16).

  2. If a school is listed in the table below and does not have a 2024 Traditional State Finish - then they did not have a wrestler compete at the 2024 state tournament, but are listed as having a team this coming season and have been placed into a class and section by the AHSAA.

  3. Each class (6A-7A and 1A-5A) has two sections and presumably will have a section qualifier in 2025.
