Pre-Seeds:

Oh the joy of trying to figure out seeds. Fortunately this is my own venture into what I think should be the pre-seeds for the event. I based it on returning State Champs and Placers, returning Knockout Champs and Placers, and head-to-head matchups (where I could find the information … in reality I leaned on Kabra Wrestling and their rankings to help when I couldn’t find results).

NOTE: These are not the events Seeds. These are my thoughts on who should be seeded where … they might be very close to what the Knockout Staff are thinking or they could use different criteria … or know something I don’t and as a result have different seeds. In reality it doesn’t matter until everyone is weighed-in.

We have pre-seeded the top 12 … in some cases it was very difficult to narrow it to 12. Take 120 lbs. … the weight is exceptionally deep and that means some very good wrestlers are not included in the top 12. Take this with a grain of salt - the Knockout staff does a great job of getting the seeds correct (two years ago - the Knockout was seeded better (based on seeding error) than the Ironman, the NCAA Division 1 Tournament, and other top events). I’ll be interested to see how close my pre-seeds are similar to the eventual seeds.
