Florida Super 32 Early Entry Tournament
Just like I said a few weeks back with regards to Georgia’s Super 32 EE Tournament … this isn’t really going to be a “preview” because so much can change from now to Saturday. That said - here a few numbers and a few names to watch this weekend in Kissimmee. And just a quick note … this was a quick check on who was in the field - we might have missed a few names that qualified last year. Apologies ahead of time.
106 lbs. (58 Registered)
Returning 2024 State Qualifiers (No order):
Connor Barnes (Oakleaf Wrestling Club)
Rocco Duygulu (Mocco Wrestling)
Gavin Fisher (Middleburg High School)
Andres Garcia (Cardinal Gibbons)
Joseph Handley (George Jenkins High School)
Kevin McLean (Flagler Wrestling Club)
Gary Mendez (Youth impact center)
Rj Phelan (Lake Gibson High School)
Gabriel Ramos (Buchholz High School)
Christopher Schnobrick (Cowboy Wrestling Club)
Good weight that features Phelan, Duygulu, and others. With 10 returning SQ’s in the field the action should heat up in the quarters with some outstanding matchups.
113 lbs. (43 Registered)
Returning 2024 State Qualifiers (No order):
Anthony Acquafredda (Cocoa Beach Wrestling Club)
Mohammad Davtalabsabet (Unattached)
Nicholas Guy (Weeki Wachee)
Nathan Lyttle (Harmony)
Erik Perez (Lost tribe)
Angel Rua (Steinbrenner)
Rocco Ruiz (Gladiator Wrestling Club)
Noah Scribner (Brandon High)
Nathan Harvey (Middleburg High School)
William McGowan (St. John Neumann)
Leonardo Perdomo (Bloomingdale)
Joshua Sabbia (Oviedo)
Garrett Ferguson (Gulf Breeze)
Just like the Georgia Super 32 (which saw some names bounce around before the actual event) … if this weight holds then it will be one of the ones to watch this weekend. Not only do you have 13 returning State Qualifiers that includes both Lyttle and Ruiz as well as Lake Highland Prep’s Liam Davis, McLean of Flagler, Messner of Lake Gibson, and a very tough Mesina of Mater Lakes. This weight should be one of the best of the weekend.
120 lbs. (52 Registered)
Returning 2024 State Qualifiers (No order):
Everett Stephens (FBA)
Santiago Carrion (Creekside High School)
Antonio Morales (Eagle Empire)
Malachi Ortiz (Tampa Jesuit / Tampa Tiger Wrestling Club)
Landon Quiroga (Brevard FCA)
Ethan Reilly (Lake Highland Prep)
Gavin Samons (Gulf Breeze High School)
Tyler White (Lake Gibson High School)
Lukah Zherka (Aubrey Rogers)
Marlo Clark (Cfwa/LHP)
Ryan St. Denis (river ridge knights)
UyKwon Zion Wimberly (Funky Monkey)
Another outstanding weight that is headlined by Air Force commit Bradley Patterson of Camden - yep Georgia’s powerhouse program will be bringing a few hammers with them this weekend. Patterson and teammate Eli Hattaway will be two to watch. Florida State Champ Malachi Ortiz as well as 2022 State Runner-up Landon Quiroga are joined by State Placer UyKwon Wimberly and others. State Champ vs. State Champ in Patterson vs. Ortiz would be outstanding, but this weight is deep an both will need to win some big matches to get to a final (can’t imagine they would be on the same side of the bracket).
126 lbs. (58 Registered)
Returning 2024 State Qualifiers (No order):
Broc Dahlin (Attack)
Adaias Ortiz (Lake Highland Prep)
Cole Webb (Cocoa Beach Wrestling Club)
Zach Berry (Palm Harbor University High School)
Mark Bonfante (Wellington High School)
Gabe Brown (Buchholz High School)
Adrian Day (Cocoa Beach High School)
David Leiva (Mocco Wrestling)
Dylan Fernandez (Somerset)
Gustavo Ferreira (Viera high/ VHWC)
Jack Oliver (Lemon Bay High School)
Ethan Warchol (Bishop kenny High school)
Reid Yakes (Tampa Bay Tigers)
James Aguilar (Riverview High School)
14 returning State Qualifiers in the mix plus two others to note in Guillermo Jaramillo of Gladiator and Issac Santos of Camden. Adaias Ortiz was 2nd last year in 3A, Jack Oliver was 2nd in 1A, David Leiva was 3rd in 3A, and Reid Yakes was 4th in 2A. Keep an eye on Ayden Balma of Riverdale as well … not a returning qualifier, but certainly one to watch.
132 lbs. (63 Registered)
Returning 2024 State Qualifiers (No order):
Matteo Gonzalez (Somerset)
Kase Hopper (Venice)
Luke Agcaoili (VHWC)
Nathaniel Williams (Gladiator Wrestling Club)
Xavier Albo (Jesuit High School)
Jay Brown (Liberty county)
Finn Buchanan (Buchholz High School)
David Drake (Coastline Wrestling Academy)
Zakary Jurado (Lincoln high school)
Johnathan Moder (FBA)
Anthony O'Dell (Golden Bears)
Dillon Smith (Eagle Empire)
Jovani Solis (Gladiator Wrestling Club)
Jaden Weisgal (Brandon High)
Jeson Carbajal (FEWA)
Solis, Smith, O’Dell, Williams, Moder, and the list goes on. 132 is stacked. Add in Camden’s Brandon Higgins who pushed Mill Creek’s Antonio Mills to the brink in their state semifinal match in Georgia and you’ve for another great weight.
138 lbs. (52 Registered)
Returning 2024 State Qualifiers (No order):
Sebastian Bonachea (NFWA)
Dario Duany (Altamonte Wrestling Club)
Damien Zherka (Aubrey Rogers)
Christian Bonilla (Longwood Wrestling Club)
Wyatt Crouser (Cocoa Beach Wrestling Club)
Izzy Sharipov (Attack)
Armand Williams (Gladiator Wrestling Club)
Ehab Shalaby (Attack)
Darion Shannon (Somerset)
Jake Wyatt (FEWA)
Ricky Bowermaster (Weeki wachee/caveman)
Kealan Sieni (Cocoa Beach High School)
Sharipov won a 3A title a year ago - he and the rest of the Floridians welcome 2x Georgia State Champ Hunter Prosen. Add in Bruce Li of Mater Lakes as well as State Placers Sebastian Bonachea and Armand Williams.
144 lbs. (54 Registered)
Returning 2024 State Qualifiers (No order):
Josue Batista (Hagerty High School)
Massimiliano Pellicano (Venice High School)
Nathan Barrett (Toho)
Jacob Reber (McKeel Academy)
Elvis Solis (Gladiator Wrestling Club)
Kaden Wheeler (Sebastian Hammerheads)
Jonathan Bruner (Nsb oceanside WC)
Carson Baert (Flagler Wrestling Club)
Michael Kersey (FBA)
Merrick Miller (NSBHS)
LeAndre Campbell (Lake Gibson High School)
Nate Jacobs (Wakulla High School)
My favorite weight of the weekend and it might be the one that prompts me to spend 10 hours in the car to watch what could be some outstanding matchups. EJ Solis headlines the weight and is joined by Lake Highland Prep’s Jayce Paridon as well as State Champ Michael Kersey. Camden’s Drew Rozier and Roderque Zow were both placers in Georgia last year as were Bruner, Barrett and Campbell in Florida.
Afternoon Session
150 lbs. (42 Registered)
Returning 2024 State Qualifiers (No order):
Jet Griffis (Land O Lakes High School)
Laird Duhaylungsod (NFWA)
Cael Kubatzke (Fernandina beach high school)
Mason Basile (Tampa Bay Tigers WC)
Landon Bates (Palm Harbor University High School)
James Kosza (Wellington High School)
Dylan Lopez (Blue steel)
Elias Twigg (Black Hive Wrestling Club)
Vlad Chechkovsky (Tocoi Creek HS)
Iam Garcia (Eagle Empire)
Aiden Hutchins (Zephyrhills Christian Academy)
Darian Monserrate (Steinbrenner)
Laine Slayton (Buchholz High School)
Izaiah Zaitouni (Beebe Trained)
Nathanial Cabrera (Attack)
Edwin Torres (VHWC)
Solid group with a ton of returning State Qualifiers, but the weight is headlined by Fargo All American Zeno Moore. Camden’s Brock Weaver is joined by Florida State Placers Basile, Duhaylungsod, Bates, Twigg, Kosza, Torres and Hutchins as well as 1A State Runner-up Cael Kubatzke
157 lbs. (41 Registered)
Returning 2024 State Qualifiers (No order):
Tyree Graham (Gladiator Wrestling Club)
Eric Hodge (Somerset)
Xavier Barnhart (St. John Neumann)
Jovan Vukajlovic (Victory Elite)
Dylan Beck (NFWA)
Caleb Causey (McKeel Academy)
Jonathan Moreno (Gladiator Wrestling Club)
As we climb higher in terms of weight - the number registered and the number of State Qualifiers falls, but that doesn’t mean this weight will be easy for anyone. Graham and Moreno both had superb summers, both are returning State Placers (Graham is a runner-up) and the pair might be battling it our for the 157 spot in the South Dade lineup. But don’t sleep on State Placers Eric Hodge and Jovan Vukajlovic.
165 lbs. (37 Registered)
Returning 2024 State Qualifiers (No order):
Drake Bonney (Miami Palmetto High School)
Kalias Nazario (Golden Bears)
Mac Andrews (Wellington High School)
Vincent Contreras (Funky Monkey)
Husam Mustafa (Lake Gibson High School)
Smaller numbers - both in terms of those registered and qualifiers - but don’t be fooled - this weight is is going to be fun. The weight is headlined by nationally-ranked CJ Torres of Lake Highland Prep with State Runner-up Kalias Nazario, State Placers Drake Bonney and Husam Mustafa as well as two very tough 2024 SQ’s in Mac Andrews and Vincent Contreras.
175 lbs. (27 Registered)
Returning 2024 State Qualifiers (No order):
Tre Driggett (Brevard FCA)
Connor Bonney (Miami Palmetto High School)
Johnathan Kelly (Boca Ciega)
Jonathon Morrison (Creekside High School)
Bennett Sweitzer (Bishop Verot)
Nicolas Winter (Cardinal Gibbons)
Three 2024 State Placers - Tre Driggett, Connor Bonney, and Bennett Sweitzer - headline those that are registered. There are several tough wrestlers that didn’t qualify for the 2024 State Tournament in the field, but will look to make a name for themselves in 2025.
190 lbs. (24 Registered)
Returning 2024 State Qualifiers (No order):
Deacon Delong (Attack)
Mateo Martinez (Somerset)
Nicholas Santiago (Eagle Empire)
Brody Switzer (Funky Monkey)
4 returning State Qualifiers, but this weight is headlined by two that did not qualify for the 2024 Florida State Tournament … Lake Highland Prep’s Alex Smith (who wrestled at National Preps) and 2x Georgia State Champion Ryder Wilder. I believe both Smith and Wilder are ranked nationally and if both show at 190 - that is the match everyone will be watching Saturday afternoon.
215 lbs. (18 Registered)
Returning 2024 State Qualifiers (No order):
Myron Mendez (Eagle Empire)
Kian Blyss (Hernando high school)
Damian Soto (Golden Bears)
Cj McCutcheon (Riverview High School)
Rarely do we get a fun weight over 200 in the fall … but 215 this weekend should be outstanding. Osceola’s Elijah Van Sickle is registered to make make his return after missing the 2024 post-season. Damian Soto is a returning State Runner-up (losing to Mocco in the finals last year), Mendez and McCutcheon are both returning placers and Blyss was a SQ in 2024.
285 lbs. (12 Registered)
Returning 2024 State Qualifiers (No order):
Liam Higgins (Wellington High School)
Seth Tshiams (North Fort Myers High School)
Georgia had 5 285’s in their bracket … Florida has 12 registered - which is solid. Seth Tshiams is a returning State Placer (5th in 2A in 2024). Joey Schulze of Camden was an important piece to their run to another Georgia State title last year (and will be again in 2025). Add in Higgins and Blake Elder and this is a solid weight for a fall tournament for the big guys.
I’ll begin the girls part with a few statements. First, it is great that Florida does a girls tournament … there is no early entry into Super 32 for the girls, but the team at Osceola still puts it on. You might say … of course they do. But you should know that other early entry tournaments do no such thing (Georgia doesn’t, North Carolina doesn’t, etc.). Second, they offer both a freestyle and folkstyle event. Another great idea and the ladies get the opportunity to continue working on their freestyle skills while getting ready for the high school season. That said … the “state qualifiers” below are for folkstyle … there is one quick look at those registered for the girls - we aren’t doing a separate one for each style.
97 lbs. (8 Registered)
Returning 2024 State Qualifiers (No order):
Alyssa Garcia (Wellington Wrestling)
Paola Perez (Gladiator Wrestling Club)
Aniyah Wayne (Attack)
Madison Carroll (Gulf Breeze High School)
Just 8 registered - 4 State Qualifiers including State Placers Paola Perez. Keep an eye on Emerson Webber as well.
103 lbs. (12 Registered)
Returning 2024 State Qualifiers (No order):
Grace Jawulski (Mayhem Wrestling Club)
Alea Morales (Attack)
Emily Doolittle (NorthSide Wrestling)
Zoey McDonald (Black Flag Wrestling Academy)
12 registered - again 4 State Qualifiers including State Placer Emily Doolittle. Breanna Higgins of Camden headlines the weight.
108 lbs. (13 Registered)
Returning 2024 State Qualifiers (No order):
Camdyn Elliott (Well Trained)
Joslyn Johnson (Flagler Wrestling Club)
Miayalee Ortiz (George Jenkins High School)
Skyler Randolph (Riverdale Training center)
Jazlyn Diaz (Riverdale wrestling club)
Rebekkah Kinkade (South Dade)
Natalia Choquegonza (Ponte Vedra High School)
Just 13 registered … but perhaps the best weight of the weekend. Johnson beat Elliott 4-3 to win a state title last year. Skyler Randolph, Jazlyn Diaz, and Natalia Choquegonza all made the podium last year. Ortiz and Kinkade both made the tournament a year ago and that depth, as well as the top end talent of the returning placers is what makes this weight one of the best of the weekend.
115 lbs. (20 Registered)
Returning 2024 State Qualifiers (No order):
Catalina Kenney (Viera Hammers)
Cameron Lord (Florida Phoenix)
Emma Bauknight (Hernando high school)
Shaniah Martinez (East bay)
Paola Ramirez (Attack)
Hailee Moder (FBA)
20 Registered including 4 State Placers in Hailee Moder, Catalina Kenney, Emma Bauknight, and Paola Ramirez.
123 lbs. (23 Registered)
Returning 2024 State Qualifiers (No order):
Willow White (Gladiator Wrestling Club)
Arianna Ruiz (Mater Lakes Academy)
130 lbs. (21 Registered)
Returning 2024 State Qualifiers (No order):
Daniela Espinal (Hernando high school)
Kaitelynn Oliver (South Dade)
Gabriella Sergi (North Side Wrestling)
Maryellen Wingate (Lake Mary HS)
Ana Vilar (Flagler Wrestling Club)
Sara Goodman (Sandalwood/Black Hive)
Jada Williams (Mayhem Wrestling Club)
Another of the top weights to watch this weekend. 23 registered including State Placers Kaitelynn Oliver, Gabriella Sergi, Maryellen Wingate, Ana Vilar, and Sara Goodman. Vilar, who was 4th in 2024, is the highest returning placer amongst those registered and is coming down to 123 after wrestling 130 at the 2024 State Tournament.
139 lbs. (11 Registered)
Returning 2024 State Qualifiers (No order):
Julianna Caisse (Riverdale)
Geraldine Honore (South Dade)
Emma Hoppe (Viera Hammers)
Emma Hoppe took 2nd at 135 a year ago and as a result comes in as the headliner. But Julianna Caisse and Gerladine Honore both made the podium and will look to make a run to the top step in 2025.
148 lbs. (13 Registered)
Returning 2024 State Qualifiers (No order):
Kristy More (Sunlake/Phoenix)
Arianna Antoniou (East Lake High School)
Noelia Varela (Riverdale High School)
Sariana Jones (Adale Wrestling Club)
Alexa Calidonio (Flagler Wrestling Club)
Just 11 registered but 3 State Placers including Kristy More, Sariana Jones, and Alex Calidonio.
160, 172, 195, and 235 all have 3 or fewer registered.
