Georgia Top 25 - #16 to #25
So much fun. Everyone is an expert … that’s why we decided to open the vote to everyone. Interested to see what everyone thinks of the following info. This is the Fan’s vote (done by 78 people).
#25 - Seth Larson (Flowery Branch) - Not in either Lucas or I’s Top 25.
12 of the 78 voters put him on their list. Highest ranked was 5th (that person had Henson #1, Brooks Climmons #2, Antonio Stewart of Camden #3, and Justan Rivera of Kennesaw Mountain #4).
Larson was a 4x State Champ and will wrestle at Campbell this fall as a freshman.
#24 - Quen Campbell (Tift County) - #25 on Lucas’s list; not on my list.
Also received 12 votes … one person had Quen at #3 (one ahead of Caleb Henson and just behind Joey Lazor of Union Grove).
Campbell never won a Georgia State Title … was 2nd and 3rd, but was a NJCAA Runner-up, a NJCAA All American (5th), and was 6th in NAIA.
#23 - Chase Horne (West Laurens) - Not in either Lucas or I’s Top 25.
So as I said in the video … I “cheated” a little by not ranking anyone that is still wrestling in college (and hasn’t been a D1 Qualifier).
Horne won Super 32 and was a 4x State Champ. He has yet to break into the NC State lineup collegiately.
Chase also received 12 votes, but his average vote was above both Larson and Campbell.
#22 - Denver Stonecheck (West Forsyth) - Not in either Lucas or I’s Top 25.
1x Georgia State Champ
NAIA Champ and 3x All American
Received 13 votes and was ranked as high as #2 by one person (that same person put Henson #1 and Tyler Askey #3).
#21 - Thomas Bullard (Archer) - Ranked much higher by both Lucas and I … Thomas will be talked about in the next show.
Bullard was a 4x State Champ and is the only 5x D1 Qualifier from Georgia.
He received 13 votes and was ranked in the top 10 by 10 of the voters (as high as #3 and #4) … interestingly 55 voters didn’t have him on their list.
#20 - Gavin Kane (Cambridge) - Ranked #16 by Lucas and is much higher by me.
Kane is a 3x D1 Qualifier and a D1 All American and will wrestle another season at North Carolina this coming year.
He received just 13 (of 78) votes), but every person that voted for him put him in their top 10.
#19 - Carrington Banks (Sequoyah/Union Grove) - Ranked by Lucas at #19 and by me at #20.
He also received 13 votes, but had two that voted him #1 and four that had him #2.
Banks was a 4x State Champ and a NJCAA National Champ (was also 4th).
#18 - Isaiah Royal (Effingham County) - Ranked higher than 16 by Lucas and #25 by me.
Royal was a 3x State Champ; 1x D2 Champ and 2x D2 All American
He received 14 votes with his highest vote coming in at #5 … two people had him #5 - one had Stonecheck #2, the other had Lucas Nelson of Camden #2.
#17 - Codi Russell (Collins Hill) - #17 by Lucas and #16 by me
Just a 1x Georgia State Champ, but was a 3x SoCon Champ and 4x D1 Qualifier (just one of 7 4x qualifiers from Georgia).
He also received 14 votes and was #2 by one person (behind Sean Russell).
#16 - Jackson DiSario (Ola) - #23 by me and not ranked by Lucas.
3x State Champ, 2x D1 Qualifier for Stanford
DiSario had 16 votes with almost half of them coming in the top 5 (one person had him #3behind Matthew Singleton and Caden McCrary).
