State of the Program ... August 29 Update

Here is an updated list of the coaches that have provided feedback. I’ll get to as many team highlights as I can before I share the team previews in October. The goal is to share all of the previews by the time each state begins practice (according to their state association).

By this time - many of you have seen that we are doing highlights of different teams across the SE as we gear up to drop the team previews in 6 weeks. I was releasing one team a day, but with now over 170 teams having sent in information - I’ll try to ramp it up a bit so we can get as many in as possible before the first part of October. I can’t guarantee I’ll get to everyone, but I will try to get to as many as possible.

Please re-visit when the actual previews get dropped in October because what I am sharing below are just a few of the names the coaches have given me. Much more will be shared - plus SEWrestle’s “What to Expect” - in the team previews. Lastly, if you want to know whether we have your form … you can find the list of everyone that has submitted a form in the blog archive.

Rocky Bayou Christian (FL)

The Knight finished 20th in Class 1A Region 1 in 2021 and will look to build upon that experience in 2021-2022. They lose Calvin Wells and Kyle Burden, but return most of their region point-getters. Luke Latham won multiple matches at regions a year ago and looks to be the Knights best shot at getting a State Qualifier in 2022. Owen Parry and Peyton Andersen each won at regions as well and will look to put together a few more wins and book their ticket to Kissimmee in 2022.

Coach Walsh has quite a crew out this season and told us to keep an eye out for a few new faces to make an impact in 2021-2022.

St Pete Catholic (FL)

St Pete Catholic might be small in number, but they have a few wrestlers that will look to make a mark in 2022. Coach Wilmington has three wrestlers to lean on …

  • Nick Sheets qualified for the 1A State Tournament a year ago and went 1-2 in Kissimmee - he will look to make a return trip in 2022.

  • Jakob and Luke Francis come over from Admiral Farragut and will look to book their ticket in 2022. Both won 2 matches at regionals a year ago and will look to get a few more wins and punch their ticket to Kissimmee.
