State of the Program ...

Here is an updated list of the coaches that have provided feedback. I’ll get to as many team highlights as I can before I share the team previews in October. The goal is to share all of the previews by the time each state begins practice (according to their state association).

Coaches - if you filled out the form, but do not see your team listed please let me know. I’ve also had many roll in the last 24 hours - so I could have simply missed one.

If you missed one of the State of the Program posts … you can find a list and links to all of them in our blog archive. All of those that have been posted thus far are italicized below.

Also just a reminder - the links below are just a snapshot of what the coaches have shared and what will be in the full team previews.

State of the Program ... Screven County (GA)
Screven County.jpg

By this time - many of you have seen that we are doing highlights of different teams across the SE as we gear up to drop the team previews in 7 weeks. I was releasing one team a day, but with now over 140 teams having sent in information - I’ll try to ramp it up a bit so we can get as many in as possible before the first part of October. I can’t guarantee I’ll get to everyone, but I will try to get to as many as possible. Please re-visit when the actual previews get dropped in October because what I am sharing below are just a few of the names the coaches have given me. Much more will be shared - plus SEWrestle’s “What to Expect” - in the team previews.

Screven County (Georgia)

Screven County finished 17th in the Georgia 1A State Tournament in 2021 and with nearly everyone returning … this is a team that is ready to jump into the top 10 and make some noise in 2022. Coach Tomlin and Greene head into their 4th year at Screven County and, on paper, this looks like their most talented and deepest group yet.

Nine 2021 State Qualifiers return led by Juniors Adam Lingerfelt, Ed Lee, Carson Ellis, Justin Pearce, and Vasquez Lonon. In fact - all 9 SQ’s are Juniors or Sophomores - so this team should only continue to get better over the next several years. Add in freshmen Kody Cochran and Isaac Maust as well as transfer Malik Perry and you should expect to hear big things from Screven County in 2022. Keep an eye on Tim Frank - he is ready for a breakout season.

We are still very young and hungry. We know where we want to go and we are looking forward to seeing how much our guys have grown over the summer with Omi Acosta Camp and Roper Camp.
— Coach Tomlin

Look for other teams to be highlighted over the next 7 weeks.

WE NEED YOUR HELP … We are in the process of collecting as much information as possible and would love for coaches to reach out and share their information. If you are a coach and would like to provide that information please click the “Team Preview” button below to be sent to a survey.

Eastside (GA)

Georgia 5A Region 8 teams are ready to welcome first year Head Coach Sam Miller into the mix this season. Coach Miller takes over a young team that graduated four hammers in Kyan Bennett, James Brundage, Cam Fleming, and Hunter Fuqua. Chase Barney is the only 2021 State Qualifier that returns and will be looked upon to lead a young group of Eagles into the 2021-2022 season.

Keep an eye on Tucker Edmondson and Grayson Poynter at the bottom of the lineup, Jordan Hittle, Wyatt King, and Nytravious Smith in the middle and Wyatt Bauer up top. There are several more Eagles on the radar - it will be interesting to see who is ready to step up and make 2021-2022 their year to show out.

Young, scrappy, and hungry. We graduated several seniors last year and have a bright, young core of solid wrestlers.
