Coach Clark has this team trending up. The Falcons had 5 qualifiers two years ago, 6 last year and it should be expected they will have even more in 2024. The Falcons finished 7th at the traditional state tournament and this is a team that should be in the mix for a top 5 finish, but will need some new faces to step up if they are going to climb into the top 3. Seth Larson continues adding state titles and he anchors a solid middle of the lineup with State Runner-up Griffin Harper and State Qualifier Jason Clark. All three should be on the podium in 2024 … if the Falcons can string together three champs they will be tough. State Qualifier Vincent Kilroty also returns and will be looking to claim a spot on the podium as well. The key for Flowery Branch is down low. Max Rhodes, Rodrigo Magana-Castenada and Preston Valentine have post-season experience and will be looked on to punch their ticket in 2024. If that happens - Flowery Branch will be solid from 132-175 with Kilroy at 190 or 215. Keep an eye on a handful of freshman that will look to break into the lineup in Eli Poole, Leland Temple, Jaiden Wood, Gage Breakfield, Jaxon Ammons, and Connor Kotula. This team will be in the 5A conversation … but whether they are knocking on the door or not is still up in the air. - SEWrestle

Ray Ford

  • Cory Rose

  • Michael Patterson

2023 Recap:

  • Finished 27th at the 3A Traditional State Tournament

Individuals:

  • Gunner Marshall - 2nd at 120

Graduated:

  • Marcus McCarson - SQ at 160

2023-2024

Returners (Grade):

  • 126 Gunner Marshall

  • 132 Landon Noel

  • 132 Porter Allen

  • 138 Mason Maybin

  • 138 Tristan Rutterford

  • 144 Malachi Sackett

  • 165 Bryce Allison

  • 175 Seth McCarson

  • 190 Jaxon Metcalf

  • 190 Nick Maybin

  • 215 Gabe Jones

  • 285 Wyatt Nabers

  • 285 Colton Riddle

Coach Ford has a solid group coming back this season led by State Runner-up Gunner Marshall. Marshall finished 2nd at 120 in 2023 and will be looking to climb to the top step in 2024. The Eagles lose State Qualifier Marcus McCarson, but return a trio that have post-season experience. Mason Maybin, Bryce Allison, and Jaxon Metcalf all wrestled at the West Region tournament with Allison nearly punching his ticket in 2023. Expect all three to be looking to book their trip in 2024. The Eagles also welcome the return of heavyweight Wyatt Nabors who missed last season due to injury. East Henderson has returners throughout the lineup … Noel and Allen join Marshall and Maybin in the upper lightweights, Rutterford, Sackett, and Seht McCarson join Allison in the middle and Gabe Jones and Colton Riddle join Maybin and Nabers up top. The one concern is down low where some new faces will be called on … one you might want to keep an eye on is freshman Tyler Shipman at 120. - SEWrestle

Coaching Staff:

Steven Heberer

2023 Recap:

  • Finished 54th at the 1A Traditional State Tournament

Individuals:

  • Levi Mayfield - SQ at 152

  • Reese Levendusky - SQ at 126

Graduated:

  • Ryan Babuscio - SQ at 160

2023-2024

Returners (Grade):

  • No Roster provided

Although we didn’t get a specific roster from Coach Heberer, he did mention a few returners in his quote. The two that standout are returning State Qualifiers Reese Levendusky and Levi Mayfield. Both have been to the state tournament and will look to take that next step in 2024 and make the podium. The Indians will also look to Craig Suddreth, Jeremy Mills, and Dustin Basham. Both Suddreth and Mills wrestled at the Section 4 tournament in 2023 and both will be looking to punch his ticket to the big dance in 2024. Emmaneal Gilmore, Landon Wommack, and Joseph Cunningham all competed at sectionals last year as well and (if they are return) will have that experience to help them in 2024. It will be interesting to see who steps up this season for the Indians. - SEWrestle
