For the first time in years … the Huskies will be without Hunter Jones, Chris Hawkins, and Cameron Cantwell up top. Jones, in particular, was a force for Hewitt and a centerpiece of their squad over the last 4 years. Still the Huskies return a ton of talent including State Champion Clark Box, State Runner-up Zach Chatman, and State Placers Bradley Hastings and Deuce Alston. Coach Pike also returns State Qualifiers Alec Nelson and Charlie Buttker. This team is solid - especially down low with Box, Hastings and Nelson and then up top with Buttiker, Alston, and Chatman. 7A North is the toughest section in the state and if Hewitt is going to be in the hunt they will need to find some new faces to step up. Keep an eye on Gavin Bittle, Riley Hulwi, Jacob Triplett, and Mason Holloway to have potential break out years this season. - SEWrestle

  • 175 Kirby Johns

We don’t follow the Independent School Associations in any state nearly as close as the other associations, but we do know National Preps and, as a result, we know the Hammond School. Luke Martin qualified for National Preps and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see several other Hammond wrestlers qualify this season. Angesom Ladd and Cobin Rabon both have won titles and Kirby Johns, Blaze Barnes, and James Lay have taken second. Like many smaller schools - Hammond might have a few holes, but the rest of this lineup is tough. Jaden Kline joins Ladd, Barnes, Martin and Rabon in a “murderers row” for Hammond. Be sure to keep an eye on 8th grader Sean Mcree who could make some noise this season. - SEWrestle
