Did the landscape of Georgia wrestling just change in a significant way?

UPDATE: From the GHSA Media Timeout … makes it clear what is allowed and what is not.

It appears that the GHSA is enforcing no competitions with 8th graders even if those tournaments occur outside the borders of the state of Georgia ... if you look at the McCallie tournament you will see Georgia wrestlers forfeiting to 8th graders from other states.

Evidently the GHSA is at the tournament (just a rumor - not something I know for a fact) and has communicated with Georgia coaches that if they compete against a middle school student from another state that their eligibility could be compromised. If this is in fact true ... the consequences for wrestling in Georgia and across the SE are huge. I have pulled the GHSA constitution and highlighted section that I believe they are using to enforce this position.

I am currently trying to get a copy of the email sent to coaches and once I do I will email Mr. Don Corr for clarification. Stay tuned.

Deep Dive with Tony DiSario

You couldn’t find a better guide to take a deep dive into Georgia Wrestling than Tony DiSario. Tony has been around the sport for a long time and has the same mission we do … to promote the sport. In this edition, Tony looks at Georgia Wrestlers on the College Stage. Please note … these are wrestlers that graduated from schools in Georgia. Many wrestlers over the years have been part of Georgia wrestling, but chasing down all of the different athletes that have, at one time or another that have graced us with their presence on the mat, is exceptionally difficult. As a result - the list only includes those that graduated in Georgia. If you feel Tony has missed anyone - please reach out. Check it out:
