We have 9 former Knockout Champs registered for the 2023 edition and a ton of returning Knockout placers.

The 2023 field also includes a 2023 World Champion, another World Team member, a number of Fargo All Americans, as well as numerous state champs and state placers.

Here is a quick breakdown of the field in terms of numbers … want a more in-depth look at who we think is the favorite, etc. … that’s in sewrestle+

9 States are represented including much of the SE plus Kentucky, New Jersey, and New York.

  • 100 - 2 State Runners-up; 3 Placers; 4 State Qualifiers … Miabella Lopez of Freedom was 2nd at this weight in 2022

  • 105 - 2 State Champs - one was a Fargo Champ, the other a Fargo All American, plus 2 other State Placers and 2 State Qualifiers. Gabby Tedesco took home the Knockout title in 2022 at this weight

  • 110 - 9 returning State Placers including 2 runners-up (but no state champs) - 4 returning Knockout placers, but again no champs

  • 120 - 2 State Champs plus 2022 Knockout Champ and Fargo Runer-up Zao Estrada (who was a boys State Placer in South Carolina). Sydney Bridentsine was a Knockout Placer. Plus 3 State Placers and 7 State Qualifiers.

  • 125 - Headlined by 2x Fargo All American and Alabama State Champ Evelyn Holmes-Smith. 2 State Runners-up, 6 State Placers and 5 State Qualifiers. Christina Borgmann and Ana Vilar both were Knockout placers in 2022.

  • 130 - State Runner-up plus 1 State Placer and 3 State Qualifiers. Blanca Cespedes was a Knockout Placer in 2022 as well.

  • 135 - State Champ, 7 State Placers and 1 other State Qualifier … 135 could include returning Knockout Champ Jennah Mustafa, Knockout Runner-up Jasmine Jenkins, and Knockout Placer Callie Alfieri.

  • 140 - 3 State Champs that includes a 2022 Knockout Champ, two Knockout Runners-up, and one that finished 4th. Plus 3 State Placers and 3 State Qualifiers.

  • 145 - World Team Member and 2x State Champ plus 5 State Placers and 4 State Qualifiers. Katherine Stewart was also a 2022 Knockout Placer.

  • 155 - Fargo Champ and nationally ranked State Champ plus two other State Champs. 4 State Placers and 2 State Qualifiers

  • 170 - 2022 World Champ, Fargo Champ, and 2x State Champ plus a Fargo All American and State Champ (also a 2022 Knockout Champ). 3 other State Placers that includes a Knockout Runner-up as well as 4 State Qualifiers.

  • 190 - 2x Fargo All American, State Champ and Knockout Champ plus two State Runners-up and 3 other State Placers. 5 State Qualifiers.

Valkyrie Duals at Northwest

One of the top girls duals tournaments in the SE happens this weekend at Northwest High School in Tennessee. #1 ranked in the SE Cleveland welcomes Clarksville, Northwest, Woodward Academy (GA), Carrollton (GA), Montgomery Central, and others into a bracket that should be tough from top to bottom.

The teams are stacked, but it might be some individual matchups that are ones to watch …

  • World Champion Pipe Fowler, Cleveland

  • State Champion Audrey Levendusky, Montgomery Central,

  • State Medalist Shyanne Michalski, Northwest High School,

  • State Medalist Cearyona O’Conner, Montgomery Central,

  • State Medalist Audra Buckley, Montgomery Central,

  • State Medalist Mekya Parker, Cleveland,

  • State Medalist Senna Grassman, Cleveland, S

  • tate Medalist Bella Harris, Cleveland,

  • State Medalist Diamond Young, Cleveland,

  • State Medalist Brooklynn Whiteside, Clarksville,

  • State Champion Sha’naiyha Wysinger, Clarksville,

  • State Medalist Anabelle Dalton, Siegel, GA

  • State Medalist Madison Cooley, Carrolton, GA

  • State Medalist Bailey Moore, Carrolton, GA

  • State Medalist Aneri Patel, Woodward Academy, GA

  • State Medalist Zammy Okoli, Woodward Academy.

The potential (and yes they are potential because we don’t if these teams will cross paths) matchups that stand out are:

  • 107: Gracie Tuberville (Montgomery Central) vs. Makya Parker (Cleveland)

  • 114 Senna Grassman (Cleveland) vs. Shyanne Michalski (Northwest)

  • 120 Ava Johnson (Clarksville) vs. Isabella Moore (Carrollton)

  • 132 Halai Cox (McGavock) vs. Bailey Moore (Carrollton) or Zammy Okoli (Woodward Academy)

  • 138 Maggie Dudley (Carrollton) vs. Brooklyn Whiteside (Clarksvile) or Kemoria Turner (Cleveland)

  • 145: Madison Cooley (Carrollton) vs. Audrey Levendusky (Montgomery Central)

  • 152: Gianna Nikolao (Kirkwood) vs. Bella Harris (Cleveland)

  • 165: Piper Fowler (Cleveland) vs. Cearyona O’Connor (Montgomery Central)

  • 235: Shaniayha Wysinger (Clarksville) vs. Diamond Young (Cleveland)

Please note … this isn’t necessarily the list of the best in a weight or anything (although many are). This is a quick look at some potential matchups that could be fun to watch … for example; Wysinger vs. Young is a rematch of the state finals (I think a rematch of the last 2 state finals). So if you are sitting in the stands and wondering who to watch as you wait for your team, etc. …. these are some potential matchups I’d pay attention to. That’s all.
