Florida takes 12th at Women's Junior Duals in Greco

Team Florida just missed on a spot in the top 8 in Greco over the last few days. The ladies from the Sunshine State finished 3rd in Pool C behind Kansas and Ohio - just missing a spot in the Gold/Silver Pool. Florida lost a close one to Ohio Red 41-33 in just their 2nd match of the tournament, but it would ultimately be the deciding match of whether they finished as All Americans or not. Florida began Day 1 with a tough 36-35 win over California Red before losing to Kansas 52-21 … they finished with a win over Georgia 43-28 to take 3rd in Pool C. Georgia finished 0-4 on Day 1 in Pool C and would end up in the Red Pool for Day 2. The only other SE team competing was North Carolina who was 5th in Pool A … the ladies from NC battled hard, but were simply outmatched after giving up several forfeits … they would also wrestle in the Red Pool on Day 2 to finish their tournament. South Carolina finished 5th after day 1 action in a tough Pool D.

Georgia finished their trip to Oklahoma with wins over Minnesota, South Carolina, and North Carolina. South Carolina downed North Carolina 39-29 to finished 3rd in the pool. Each team had several stand out performances, but just five finished unbeaten. Erin Rizzuto of Florida, Samantha Patton and Genevieve An of Georgia, and Annalise Maralit and Zao Estrada of South Carolina each finished their trips without a loss in Greco.
