Pennsylvania Blue tops Wisconsin to win the Women's 16U Freestyle Duals Title

Pennsylvania Blue dominated on their way to the 16U Freestyle title. The #1 seed looked the part in downing Iowa 57-6, Florida 50-15, Tennessee 42-24, Kansas 57-7, Ohio Blue 47-20, Illinois 60-6, Indiana 49-16, California 44-24, and Wisconsin 48-25. The 16U ladies from the Keystone State were never in a tight dual with their first 4 wrestlers (Makayla Smith, Jaclyn Bouzakis, Morgan Hyland, and Julia Horger each finishing the tournament 9-0. Emma Bacon and Violette Lasure were also 9-0 for the tournament (an SE note … two of those young ladies - Bouzakis and Bacon both wrestled some in the sunshine state before heading to PA).

Florida finished the tournament in 14th and Georgia was 15th. Florida beat Georgia 43-16 to begin action on Day 2 in the Bronze/Copper Pool. Tennessee was 4th in the Red/Blue Pool to round out the teams from the Southeast. Each of the SE teams had a number of wrestlers that finished the tournament with solid records (unbeaten in at least 3 matches or 6 or more wins and a winning record with no forfeits) … including:

  • 190 - Isabella McFarlane (9-0)

Georgia:

  • 130 - Ella Hughes (6-2)

  • 142 - Greta Garbuzovas (8-0)

  • 235 - Shaylee Bachand (4-0)

Tennessee:

  • 94 - Easton Dadiomoff (6-2)

  • 106 - Cora Finstad (7-1)

  • 130 - Ava Johnson (6-2)

  • 155 - Janiya Johnson (8-0)
