If they started at 106 … and given the box score above it appears that way. Thompson started off with 6 from Braylen Johnson, but couldn’t handle the gauntlet that Huntsville has from 113-126 with Kiyan Simon getting a technical fall followed by falls from Wallace Blue and Joseph Sewell. Jordan Weltzin got Thompson back in the match with a fall at 132 and Henry Betke lost a close one to returning State Champ Jake Ciccolella 8-7 to put the score at 20-12. The Warriors of Thompson were game much of the match with decision losses at 144, 150, 165, and 175, but couldn’t make up the falls they yielded early on and fell 46-22. Nice to see Nick Dempsey back in the lineup for Thompson (an 11-6 loss to Yanik Simon at 150) … but losing 10 of 14 weights is never going to get you a dual win … and at the end of the day Huntsville was able to take 10 of 14 matches. Next up for the Panthers … Semifinals vs. Bob Jones or Hewitt-Trussville.
