Wrestlers who dream of climbing atop an award podium will have to wait.

The news that the sport's athletes, coaches and fans dreaded the most has become a reality: There won’t be an individual tournament for high school wrestlers in New Jersey this winter.

The announcement was made during the New Jersey Wrestling Coaches Association’s meeting on Wednesday night.

The decision comes as COVID-19 cases are on the rise in New Jersey and throughout the country.
