Finals: Horwath handled the final vs. Hunt like he handled the rest of the tournament … really never any doubt. Not that it was easy, but he was solid on his feet and scored the takedowns when necessary. He lead Hunt 2-1 after the 1st and really opened things up in the second - leaving no doubt that he would take the title at 112. He had 2 falls, a medical forfeit before downing Walker of Michigan 12-1. Hunt on the bottom side beat 3 seed Bouzakis in a wild match 7-6 before pinning Corday in the semis (the match with Corday was close and competitive, but Hunt was on his way to the win when he got the fall with 30 seconds left).

SE highlights: Corday and Hunt both looked sharp on the bottom side of the bracket (I already described Hunt’s march to the semi showdown with Corday above) … Corday pretty much easily took care of business in the bottom quarter - pinning Schofield of MI, downing Clayton Jones of Michigan 8-3, beating Josh Noble of GA 7-3, and Orion Wilson of Michigan 11-2 before running into Hunt. Rochester lost to Wilson 3-2 in the Rd 16 or we would’ve ended up with Corday vs. Rochester in the quarters …. Rochester was then bounced 3-0 by Rowland.

Speaking of NC’s Rowland - he lost early to Bouzakis (the 3 seed) and then won 4 in a row to make the podium … with wins over Malik Hardy (GA) 6-5, Rochester, Josh Noble 6-5 TB1, and Chinavere of Michigan by fall before losing to Trevon Gray of Virginia 7-6. Two other SE wrestlers of note are Justin Bradford of TN and Josh Noble of GA - both by the narrowest of margins (Noble to Rowland in Sudden Victory) and Bradford 3-2 to Gray 2 rounds before placing.
