Palmetto Ridge (FL) holds off Charlotte to claim the Captain Archer Title

Florida 2a powers Palmetto Ridge and Charlotte went head-to-head this weekend and the Ridge came out with the title. 3A power Riverdale was 3rd with Barron Collier 4th, and Ft Myers 5th. Charlotte finished with more champs than Palmetto Ridge and Riverdale (4 vs. 2 each for Palmetto Ridge and Riverdale), but it was the backside that proved the difference.

No team scores as I could tell, but some outstanding wrestling. Lake Gibson led the way with 3 Champs - Hayden Whidden at 126, Brendan Abdon at 152, and Frank Solorzano at 160. South Dade and Osceola each had 2 Champs with the rest being divided up between University Christian, Southwest Miami, Colquitt County (GA), Fleming Island, Valdosta (GA), Jensen Beach, and Camden (GA). Mt Pisgah (GA) Crowns 4 individual Champs to claim the Buford Takedown Title

Pisgah beat Cass by 1.5 points, Oglethorpe County by 3.5 and host Buford by 5 to claim the team title. Catherine-Grace Bertrand, Tyler Nelson, Jake Piccirilli, and David Bertrand led the way for Pisgah. Cass finished 3 champs and West Forsyth had 2.

Jesuit (FL) Claims the 29th Annual Kiwanis Invitational Title

Jesuit had 9 individual Champions and was dominant from 113-160 as they ran away with the team title ahead of host Hernando and North Port. If Jesuit can keep that strength in the middle they are going to be tough to beat in 2021.

Wetumpka (AL) takes home the Swede Umbach title

Wetumpka beat Opelika, Spanish Fort, Enterprise, Hewitt-Trussville, and Pelham to take home the Umbach title. Chad Strickland (113), Kyler Adams (138), Americus Bartee (170), Devin Palmer (195), Nathan Waters (220), and Abe Preston (285) each went unbeaten for the Indians on the weekend.

Trion (GA) claim the John Smith Mountaineer Title

Trion held off Sonoraville, Cambridge, and host Lumpkin County to take home the team title. Daegan Vaughn, Logan Eller, and Crawford Lee won individual title for 1A power Trion as they beat Sonoraville by 16 points.

Dobyns Bennett (TN) claims the Indian Classic Title

The Indian Classic in TN is one of the top tournaments each year in the SE. It has featured some of the best from around the SE in recent years, but was reduced to just a Tennessee tournament in 2020. DB took full advantage while claiming 4 individual titles and held off Science Hill and Gibbs for the title in 2020.

Ft Pierce Central (FL) held off Somerset to claim the Steadwell-Grow title

FPC scored 251, Somerset had 250 as they finished up Saturday afternoon. Treasure Coast was 3rd and 1A power American Heritage Delray was 4th. Somerset crowned 6 individual champs - 4 more than Ft Pierce Central, but FPC made up for it on the backside of the bracket.

Union Grove (GA) claims the South Metro Title

Union Grove crowned 3 individual champs and held off Hampton and Locust Grove for the team title. Locust Grove actually led the way with 4 individual champs, but couldn’t catch the wolverines in the team race.

Summit (TN) outdistances host Independence to claim the Indy Title

Summit cruised to the team title on Saturday - beating host Independence by more than 100 points in the final tally. Summit won the first 6 weights and added 170 and 285 to finish the day with 8 champs.

Gulf Breeze (FL) claims the Ryan Blackwell title

Gulf Breeze hosted a bunch of Florida panhandle and southern Alabama teams this weekend, but managed to keep the title at home. Gulf Breeze had 6 individual champs - just ahead of runner-up Pace which had 3.

Heritage (TN) downs Boyd Buchanan to claim the Smoky Mtn Duals Title

Oglethorpe County (GA) claims the Madison Co Christmas Classic Title

OG held off Madison County by 4 points to claim the team title. Morgan County had 4 individual champs, but couldn’t catch Oglethorpe County for the team title.

Port Charlotte (FL) claims the King’s Classic title

Port Charlotte held off Oasis and Lakewood Ranch to claim the team title. They had 6 individual champs compared to Oasis’s 4 and just one for Lakewood Ranch.

Lassiter (GA) claims the Cobb County Title

Lassiter crowned 4 individual champs, Pope had 3 and 7 other teams each had one as Lassiter walked away with the team title. 10 of the 14 top seeds claimed an individual title … with McEachern’s Shamani Price (132) and Allatoona’s Luke Ballard (106) being the only two champs that weren’t seed either #1 or #2.

Lincoln (FL) claims the Capital City Classic

Lincoln claimed the title in a significantly smaller tournament than we are accustomed to seeing in Tally. Lincoln was led by Elijah Hendley, Cayden Bevis, and Omarion LaRoach.

Merritt Island (FL) claims the William Nutter Title

Another tournament that was reduced significantly by the current situation … Merritt Island saw both their A and B squads wrestle well with the A team taking home the title. Satellite was 2nd followed by Melbourne.

Toombs County (GA) downs Screven County for the Roll Tribe Dual Title

Space Coast (FL) holds of The Master’s Academy to claim the Viper Invite Title

Space Coast crowned 5 Individual champs and beat the Master’s Academy by 21 points to keep the team title at home. Heritage was 3rd followed by Cocoa and Atlantic (Port Orange).

Clay (FL) Claims the Ponte Vedra Duals Title

Clay beat Ponte Vedra, Nease and Middleburg with ease and cruised to the dual team title. Middleburg beat Nease and Ponte Vedra in two close duals to claim 2nd.

Sebastian River (FL) claims the Deltona Duals title

Sebastian River beat Oviedo 48-33, Deltona 54-15, East River 53-24, and Deland 42-36 to claim the team title.

Palm Bay (FL) wins the Bulldog Brawl at St Cloud

Cleveland Duals and McCallie were both cancelled
