Weekend Recap Jan 29th and 30th

Georgia State Duals

  • Camden County claimed their 7th consecutive State Duals Championship and their 5th in a row in 7A with a domination of the bracket.

  • Buford won the deepest class in Georgia with an outstanding run that included wins over Richmond Hill, Alexander, and then Creekview.

  • Woodland looked absolutely dominant en route to their 3rd consecutive State Duals Title.

  • Jefferson finished out their “revenge tour” with a dominating win over region foe Flowery Branch in the finals.

  • North Hall fought off a very talented Gilmer team to claim their 2nd consecutive state duals title.

  • Oglethorpe County is the one of the newest team on the top step - claiming the 2A Duals Title.

  • Mt Pisgah Christian is the other new face on top of the podium. They claimed the 1A Duals Title over Commerce.

Union County (TN) Girls claim the Tennessee East Region Title

Union County held off Alcoa and Gibbs to claim the Tennessee East Region title this past Saturday. Union County put 7 girls on the podium including Kayla Faulkner, Brianna Cook, and Lesley White who each punched their ticket to the state tournaments in a few weeks.

Rossview Girls take the TN West Region Title

Rossview didn’t crown an individual champ, but Justina Nikolao, Gabby Wilkinson, Jamya Brewer, and Alyssa Adamo led the way for Rossview to claim the team title. In fact, Rossview might have been led by those 4 State Qualifiers, but it was a team effort with 3 others making the podium and scoring big points.

Cardinal Gibbons claims the Broward County Championship

Peyton Vargas, Nicholas Yancey, Diego Peralta, and Jertavis Black each claimed BCAA titles to lead Cardinal Gibbons to the team title. Cypress Bay matched Gibbons with 4 Champs (Campbell, Rodriguez, Diniz, and Herrero), but couldn’t stay with them on the backside and finished 2nd. St Thomas was 3rd, Miramar was 4th, and Stoneman Douglas was 5th.

Southwest Miami claims Live Greco Title

Southwest Miami took the title over Palmetto Ridge, Palm Harbor, Somerset, and Osceola. Southwest didn’t claim an individual title, but put 12 on the podium including 5 that finished 2nd.

South Dade takes the Moskowitz title over Riverdale

South Dade finished ahead of Riverdale, Harmony, Freedom, and host George Jenkins to claim the Moskowitz team title. Some outstanding individual matchups in this one including John McNichols over Gavin Balmeceda, Alex Couto over Alex Soto, and DD Rodriguez over Keith Crouse to name just a few.

Mater Lakes and miami columbus win the Jack Staples Duals

Both teams finished the duals unbeaten, but there is no record of them wrestling for first.

Brandon claims the 2021 Palmetto Pride Tourney title

Brandon crowned 6 individual champs to finish 71 points in front of runner-up North Port and 72 in front of 3rd place Palmetto. Braden River was 4th and Dixie Hollins finished 5th.

Lemon Bay holds of Bloomingdale for the 2nd Annual Massung title

Lemon Bay didn’t crown a single individual champ, but the Rays 4 in the finals and all 14 finished top 6 as they held off Bloomingdale for the team title. Nathaniel Overman, Zachery Allison, and Josh Platt each claimed titles for the Bulls as they finished 2nd. Apopka was 3rd, followed by McKeel and Strawberry Crest.

Fleming Island claims the 35th Annual Flagler Rotary

Fleming Island downed American Heritage Delray Beach 42-32 to claim the title. Clay downed Buchholz to finish 3rd and Oakleaf beat host Flagler for 5th.

Fletcher wins the Gateway Conference

Fletcher cruised to the Gateway Conference title over Mandarin, First Coast and Robert E Lee. Ana Bradshaw, Ryden Ashmore, Gabe Daltro, Joel Rodriguez, and Ethan Hollenbach each claimed titles for Fletcher.

Charlotte tops Jesuit to claim the Gene Gorman Duals

Jesuit downed Charlotte 37-36. Barron Collier beat Jesuit 36-35. Charlotte beat Barron Collier 55-12. Jesuit ended up 2nd and Barron Collier was 3rd.

Timber Creek claims the Wolfpack Invitational Title
