Ogden #8 in latest pound for pound rankings; Amani Jones #19; Zao Estrada breaks in at #25
Lake Highland Prep’s Chloe Ogden is the highest ranked pound for pound wrestler from the SE - coming in at #8 in the July 1st USA Wrestling, Flowrestling, and National Wrestling Hall of Fame Rankings. Joining Ogden in the pound for pound rankings is Georgia Senior Amani Jones (#19) and South Carolina freshman Zao Estrada (#25).
Florida, led by Ogden, has 15 wrestlers in the rankings, Tennessee has 10, Georgia has 7, South Carolina and North Carolina each have 3, and Alabama has none. Of Georgia’s 7 ranked wrestlers, all but 2 (An and Sullens) are Seniors. So look for that to have a big impact on the next rankings that come out.
In fact 109 (or 31%) of the 350 ranked wrestlers are Seniors that will fall out of the next rankings. The largest # of those ranked are rising Seniors (current Juniors according to the rankings). Juniors account for 121 of those ranked (or 34%) … in fact the top 4 ranked wrestlers pound for pound (Kennedy Blades, Welker, Elor, and Korina Blades are all Juniors). 70 Sophomores are ranked followed by 38 freshmen, and 12 8th graders.
