Prado, Fowler, and Jones win National Titles
The SE had a very good weekend in Spokane, Washington. Several #dirtysouth hammers claimed national titles and a bunch of others made the podium - making them 2023 All Americans. Let’s start with the U17’s where the SE had two claim titles … May Prado of Georgia at 65 kg and Piper Fowler of Tennessee at 73 kg.

May Prado of Lassiter High School (GA) - 65 kg Champ
Prado had to battle in order to claim the 65 kg title. She came in unseeded (at least not in the top 8), but proceeded to knock off seeded wrestlers all the way through to claim the title.

RD 16: 5-4 decision of #5 seed Brenya Crahan (MO)
Qtrs: 5-2 decision of #4 seed Gianna DiBenedetto (CA)

Match 1: 10-0 tech fall of Belicia Manuel (MI)
Match 2: 9-0 decision loss to Belicia Manuel (MI)
Match 3: 2-1 decision of Belicia Manuel (MI)
Piper Fowler of Cleveland High School (TN) - 73 kg Champ
Fowler entered as the #1 seed at 73 kg. She had to scrap through some tough matches before taking the finals in two straight dominating decision wins. Here is her run to the 73 kg title:

Annalise Maralit (South Carolina) - 5th at 40 kg
Milana Borrelli (Florida) - 7th at 53 kg
Grace Leota (Florida) - 4th at 73 kg
Genevieve An (Georgia) - 5th at 73 kg
Former Georgia Hammer Amani Jones Claims a U20 National Title
Former Ola High School hammer (and current North Central Cardinal) claimed the 55 kg title on Sunday. Jones dominated her way from the #3 seed to the title.

Paige Wehrmeister (Missouri – Presbyterian) – 7th at 65 kg
Katelyn Lewis (Wisconsin - Brewton Parker) - 7th at 72 kg
King’s Montana DeLawder 57 kg U23 National Champion
Montana DeLawder entered as the top seed at 57 kg and dominated her way to a World Team spot for King University. Montana is from Pennsylvania, but because she goes to school at King University we thought it was important to include her (and all of the other women with SE ties in the recap … I’m certain some were missed and for that I apologize, but tracking down whre everyone goes to school isn’t easy).
