Vancleave qualified four for the traditional state tournament a year ago and finished 5th overall. But this was a very young team (and will be do again in 23-24). Mitxi and Breanna Thomley were just freshmen in 2022-2023 and Destiny Thomley was a 7th grader. Expect all three to continue to improve. When asked about newcomers … Coach Sutherland saud “We have a few new young ladies coming in to the program that will really bring us to a new level in the girls category, We have a transfer previous state champ in Annika Mortesen 126 (11th), we also have a few new middle school young ladies that are ready and been working off season to start the year strong.” If Coach Sutherland can get the pieces to fit and get the continued development from the core of the team … better watch for this team in 2024 and beyond. - SEWrestle
