The young Lions of Central Carroll certainly roared onto the scene in Georgia in 2023. Most thought they were still a year away from claiming a title, but they proved everyone wrong by claiming the 4A duals title over Lovett and then taking 2nd at the Traditional State Tournament. And when I say “young Lions” … they really were … with 7 of their state qualifiers in 2023 being either freshmen or sophomores. Gabe Swann and Ty Murray each claimed titles, Danny Krutules was 3rd and Colt Mitchell qualified for Macon all as freshmen a year ago. Colson Hoffman was 2nd, Andrew Sheffield 6th, and William White was a qualifier as sophomores. This is still a young squad that is hunting state titles in both duals and traditional in 2024 and this team has still not reached their potential. From 106 to 138 Central Carroll will be extremely tough to beat. The key to adding more titles will come in the middle of the lineup. Sheffield, a returning placer, will hold down one of the spots, but it will come down to Hayden Gammon, Cam Bolton, Matt Phillips, Nate Horsley, Jonathan Watts and Ty Brewer to take care of the other spots. Kaleb Disharoon qualified as a junior a year ago and will look to climb onto the podium in his senior season. Keep an eye on freshman Chris Phillips - he will look to break into the lineup down low. - SEWrestle
