If feel as if the Indians are right on the cusp of breaking through and claiming their first state title. They didn’t have the depth a year ago to make a run in duals, but finished 4th at the traditional state tournament. Garbuzovas times two plus Gwennie Wight played a huge role in 2023 and all three return. Greta Garbuzoas won a state title at 140 and Nora was 3rd at 135. Wight didn’t make the podium, but did add to the point total with a win in Macon. But what makes Lumpkin on the verge of taking that next step are a few things … 1) the addition of Coach DeGraff is huge and will be a factor, 2) Cadence Grulla, Mia Avina, and Maxine Sullens all have experience and each will be looking to punch their ticket to Macon this season, and 3) the Indians add 4 newcomers that will look make an impact this season … Monica McClenson, Lily Cuny, Nicole Bruno, and Kadyn Dillon will look to establish themselves in the lineup as well.
