Coach Hewgley has assembled quite a crew that has been competing for a bit (but are mostly new to the sport) and are eager to make a splash in the first official year for women in North Carolina. Looking up and down the roster you see a ton of upperclassmen with 6 seniors and 6 juniors. The crew is new, but there are a few that we think you should pay attention to … Sofia Ortiz and Ky Nelms both attended summer camp at App State and have constantly been looking to push themselves to get better. Jiselle Riley competed a year ago at Green Level and that experience should be an asset for this squad in 2023-2024. Rya Menon is new to wrestling, but has a background in combat sports - having done jiu jitsu for years (we’ve seen girls all over with those skills make the transition and excel in wrestling). Lastly, the coaches love the work ethic of Shreya Kunwar … they expect big things from the entire group and expect each will make big jumps in their abilities over the course of the season. - SEWrestle
