Bunn has been super close to claiming a state title over the last several years, but has come up just short. With the graduation of 2 State Placers (Ellis and Chastain) and 2 State Qualifiers (Watkins and McDowell) it is going to difficult for them to claim the top step in 2023-2024. That doesn’t mean Bunn won’t be in the conversation, but for that to happen Coach Haake will rely on some new faces to step up and make some noise this year. Bunn returns Alex Monks who won matches at the state tournament in 2023 and, if he is back at 106, has to be considered one of the favorites to claim the top step in 2024. Spencer Stallman, Trey Hanna, and Jayden Alston all won matches at the Mideast region and will look to punch their ticket to the big dance in 2024. Ultimately though Bunn will need Kevin Silverio, Chino Catalan, John Fuentes, Ryan Bell, Tyler Perry, Gabriel Soto, and Ariel Soto step up. Bunn should be solid down low - but replacing Watkins, McDowell, and Ellis up top might be a challenge. Keep an eye on Lucas Pendleton, Zach Posner, Clayton Powell, Dino Longo, and freshman Jake Roth. - SEWrestle
