Greenbrier (GA)

Coach Abero has assembled an impressive team and will look to make another jump in 2022. The boys finished 13th in Georgia 5A in 2021 and despite graduating State Champ Beau Shugarts and State Placer Dakota Williamson - the bar is high and the Pack will look to reload and break into the top 10 in 2022. The girls were extremely impressive in 2021 - taking 11 to the State Tournament and finishing 3rd behind Chestatee and Alexander.

Let’s focus on the boys first. The Pack return Sebastian Melendez, who qualified for state as a freshman, along with Nat Jujuloen, Caden Pollard, Cris Martinez, Boston McDermott and Graham Granger who all missed qualifying for the state tournament by one match. Those six should make up the core, but keep an eye on a few other names to make an impact in 2022. Jeremiah Bonner, Ben Rezendes along with Alex Salser who moved in from Virginia will look to make an impact as well as incoming freshman Gabriel Melendez.

On the girls side, State Placer Arie Bacon returns as well as State Qualifier Jayde Massa. The key for Greenbrier to make a run at the Girls Team title is how well Jordan Epstein, Savanah Alexander, Ryan Lewis, Sierra Williamson and Lorena Valdez wrestle in 2022. Keep an eye on Julia Zanatta who missed last year and the addition of freshman Liz Martinez. This is a team that could make some noise in 2022 - 4 of their girls wrestled in Fargo this summer and that should pay dividends come February.

We’ve put in the hard work, sacrifice and commitment to have a fantastic 21-22 season
