The Red Devils finished 6th in 2A a year ago and with the realignment (both Foard and CATA who finished ahead of NC move up to 3A), this is a team that could make some noise in 2022. State Champ Ryan Walker and State Placer Cole Clark have graduated, so the Red Devils turn to State Placer Owen Clark to lead the way. Owen Clark lost in overtime in the state semis this past year and placed third - his only loss of the season. He should be the favorite at 195 in 2022.
The key for NC is the continued production of those around Clark. Keep an eye on Camden Spencer, Jason Brawley, and Jordan Henze - each won matches at the region tournament in 2021. Also watch for Sophomore Isaiah Pittman who should make an impact immediately.
