Russell County (AL)

The Warriors are a team on the rise in Alabama 5A/6A. They qualified 7 for the 2021 State Tournament and four of those wrestlers return ready to make a return trip in 2022. More importantly - the Warriors have quite a new faces out and they look ready to follow those 4 returning qualifiers in 2021-2022.

Freshman Dan Bulens qualified last year as an 8th grader and returns after going 1-2 in Huntsville. He is joined by fellow qualifiers Owen Elledge, Julian Anthony, and Avery Boyette. Junior MJ Williams is looking to make a splash at heavyweight in his first season at Russell County. Freshman Rashad Scott is looking to build on his previous season from 2020 before covid. He was unable to participate last year. Several other newcomers are looking to make their mark in their first season of wrestling including Seniors Mark Olds and Michael Roberts. There are quite a few returning wrestlers who were unable to participate last year because of covid reasons, but have one year of wrestling experience from 2019 to 2020. If Coach Chamberlain can get all the peices to fit - this is a team that could make some noise in 2021-2022.

We are looking to have one of our best yet. We are returning four state qualifiers Freshmen Owen Elledge and Dan Bulens Sophomore Julian Anthony, Junior Avery Boyette. Many wrestlers were unable to participate last year because their parents had reservations about covid. This year has seen several commitments from more parents to allow their kids to wrestle. We are also returning eighth grader Kylie Mackey who earned fourth place in the girls state tournament last year.
