King’s Mountain (NC)

King’s finished 10th in 3A West in 2021 and with the return of one State Qualifier and 7 wrestlers with Region experience, this is a team looking to make an impact in 2022. AJ Richardson returns after qualifying as a sophomore and will be hunting a spot on the 3A podium in 2022. Lucas Sanders and Jordan Moore will push to punch their ticket in 2022 and help lead the way of this young squad (5 of their 2021 region wrestlers were either freshmen or sophomores).

The key for KM will be the continued development of Chris Shrader, Trevor Moore, Chance Habel, and Adam Phillips. Each wrestled at the region tournament a year ago and will look to make an impact in 2021-2022. Keep an eye on Seniors Peyton Fisher and Landon Greene (both of whom missed last year) as well as Jake Lloyd. This team has a ton of wrestlers ready to step up … the question is … who will?

We are excited about the progress that our wrestlers made last season and look forward to watching them grow and mature this season. We are still relatively young with only 2 seniors from last year’s team. We anticipate improvement at the bottom of the lineup with Cody Wright, Trevor Moore, Lucas Sanders, and Jordan Moore all working hard in the offseason. Chase Smith, Adam Phillips, Robert Kendrick and Waylon Yelton all look to make improvements from a limited freshman campaign. Chris Schrader will also be a big part of our middle lineup this season. We are expecting AJ Richardson to take on more of a leadership role as he looks to improve on his Heavyweight Regional Championship from last season. AJ and Alex Jackson have been putting in a lot of offseason work and we are excited to see both of these young men at the top of the lineup. The coaching staff is excited to have Peyton Fisher, Jacob Hamrick and Jake Lloyd return to the lineup this season. Peyton will step right back into a leadership position this season after playing baseball during the spring season. Joining Peyton from the baseball team is Jacob Hamrick who is as athletic as anyone on the roster. Jake Lloyd suffered a leg injury during the Spring football season and was unable to wrestle. We are excited to finally have him healthy and in the lineup. We are looking forward to the freshmen that will be transitioning from the middle school program.
