Coral Springs Charter (FL)

Head Coach: Eric Perez (1st season)

Staff: Steve Mocco, Peter Derstine, Jonathan Moltimer

Coach Eric Perez comes over from Abundant Life Christian Academy and takes the reins of a program that was built by Dan Dunham. Coral Springs Charter has a very young team grade wise but what they lack in age they more than make up for in wrestling IQ. Their young hammers have been around the sport for a very long time and will look to make an impact in extremely difficult Class 1A Region 4. Charter lost State Runner-Up Terrell Taylor to graduation but return an outstanding group of returning Seniors that will look to lead the way and mentor the younger guys throughout the season.

Brock Wilson, David Taylor and Griffin Perko lead the way and will be looking to punch their ticket to Kissimmee in their final season. Keon Taylor was a sophomore a year ago and won 2 matches at the regional tournament … he and 8th grader Michael Mocco (who won 3 matches at regions) are Charter’s best shots at having a state placer in 2022. Keep an eye on Preston Linday, Brayden Derstine, and Michael Varga - each has experience and will look to make some noise in 2022.

Coral Springs Charter also has two new faces to keep an eye on … Hunter Perez who transferred from Iowa and Peter Mocco - a 6th grader with tons of experience (and success) at the youth level. Charter is in a great position to gain experience and yet knock some top teams off along the way.

I am extremely excited about this upcoming season. We have a lot of guys that can make some noise at Regionals this year. They have been working very hard during the off season. I can’t wait to see that hard work pay off.
