By this time - many of you have seen that we are doing highlights of different teams across the SE as we gear up to drop the team previews in 6 weeks. I was releasing one team a day, but with now over 170 teams having sent in information - I’ll try to ramp it up a bit so we can get as many in as possible before the first part of October. I can’t guarantee I’ll get to everyone, but I will try to get to as many as possible.

Please re-visit when the actual previews get dropped in October because what I am sharing below are just a few of the names the coaches have given me. Much more will be shared - plus SEWrestle’s “What to Expect” - in the team previews. Lastly, if you want to know whether we have your form … you can find the list of everyone that has submitted a form in the blog archive.

Montgomery Bell Academy (TN)

MBA finished 7th in Tennessee D2 in Coach Simpson’s first year and he and the team will look to build on that success as we enter the 2021-22 season. Gabe Fisher, Max Fisher, and Matthew Hyde each made the podium in 2021 and will look to do so again in 2022. Gabe Fisher finished 1st at 220 and has to be one of the favorites to repeat in 2020. Max Fisher was 3rd and will likely have to contend with McCallie’s James Howard if he wants to claim a title in 2022.

MBA also returns State Qualifiers Mac Russ and Johnothon Moore. The Big Red should be competitive throughout their lineup - keep an eye on Senior Simon Buenahora, a ton of Juniors, as well as Sophomores Willers and Sberna.

We’ve got a good group of young men coming back with some experience. Many of them are great competitors, and I’m excited to see what they can do. Much of the team plays football, so whenever that season ends and they step on the mat, they should have their competitive “juices” firing on all cylinders. The goal we have for our wrestlers is to wrestle hard every minute of a match, and to be a good teammate. If the boys can do these things, I believe we’ll have a good amount of boys standing on the platform at the state tournament, and in turn, I believe our team will achieve some of our collective goals.
