By this time - many of you have seen that we are doing highlights of different teams across the SE as we gear up to drop the team previews in 6 weeks. I was releasing one team a day, but with now over 170 teams having sent in information - I’ll try to ramp it up a bit so we can get as many in as possible before the first part of October. I can’t guarantee I’ll get to everyone, but I will try to get to as many as possible.

Please re-visit when the actual previews get dropped in October because what I am sharing below are just a few of the names the coaches have given me. Much more will be shared - plus SEWrestle’s “What to Expect” - in the team previews. Lastly, if you want to know whether we have your form … you can find the list of everyone that has submitted a form in the blog archive.

Mallard Creek (NC)

The Mavericks return to 4A in 2021-2022 (when a number of teams are shuffling into new classes in North Carolina) and will look to improve on their 15th place finish the 4A Traditional State Tournament. Freshman Phenom Cam Stinson Jr. now turns to being a spectacular Sophomore and looks to continue his collection of state titles … he finished the year unbeaten and claimed the 4A 106 lb. title. He’s going to be a tough one to knock off in 2021-2022. Stinson is joined by 2021 State Qualifiers Brice Boyd and Trey O’Connor. Both went 0-1 (no consi’s in last year’s post-season) - so each will look to get back to the state tournament, put together a few wins, and climb onto the podium.

Keep an eye on Tyquan Bolden, Eyon Peters, and Keith Archibald … each return to the team after missing much of last year with Covid restrictions … Bolden and Archibald are both Seniors that will look to make some noise after missing their opportunity in 2020-2021.

We had our best freshman recruiting class in school history during COVID. We look to continue to improve, with most wrestlers returning, including three SQs and 4 All-Conference wrestlers (3 freshmen). Cam Stinson Jr was the first freshman state champion ever from Mecklenburg County. Perfect 33-0
