The Spartans lost some significant firepower with the graduation of State Runner-up Allen Baker, State Placers Coleman Bates and Jack Windle, and State Qualifier Nathan McCain … yet they return a ton of talent. And that is not an exaggeration. Qualifying 13 for the 2023 state tournament - with several of those being underclassmen has put Coach Ransom and his Spartans in a great spot to make a run for the 6A title in both duals and at the traditional state tournament. Sure they have a few spots to fill, but the majority of this lineup has state tournament experience. They will look to push for both team and individual titles in 2024. Seniors William Courtenay and Sam Carroll will lead the crew, but the depth of talent extends all the way through this squad - from freshman Bill Bradford who made the podium last year as an 8th grader through junior Stephen Springfield who finished 2nd at 113. We expect Mountain Brook will put 10-14 back in the big dance, have a bunch of placers and don’t be surprised to see a few select individuals hoist an individual title as well as being part of a championship team. Keep an eye on freshmen David Newell and Davis Smith as well as a few others that will be asked to step into the lineup and play an important role. - SEWrestle
