Eastside (SC)

Head Coach: Jack Kosmicki (entering 28th season)

Staff: David Maholtz, Jason Leonard, Robert Montgomery

Eastside isn’t just one of the best teams in South Carolina - they are amongst the best in the Southeast. Coach Kosmicki continues to graduate hammers and then just reload and make another run at another state title. Last year was a bit strange with the Covid-protocols and limitations related to tournaments, travel, etc. - so we didn’t get to see last year’s Eagles in action. That won’t happen this year with Eastside set to join the long list of teams headed to the Knockout (and perhaps we will be able to get up to their Southern Slam in early December as well).

With 5 returning State Champs, 2 other State Placers, and a ton of wrestlers ready to step in and make their mark - the Eagles have to be the favorites to claim another 4A title in 2022. Ty Tice, Colt Schrader, Lane Schrader, Jack Wyland, and Daniel Esparza are back and looking to claim another individual title (as well as leading Eagles to another team title). Roy Price and Nik Snizaski will look to join their teammates on the top step after finishing just short of that step in 2021. It is very possible that the Eagles could crown 7 individual champs in 2022. Keep an eye on Kaleb Dwyer, Baron Leonard, Langston Scott, and Brandon Charlton as they look to make an impact this season. The Eagles will also welcome three freshmen that will look to break into the lineup and make an impact - George Maholtz, Barnett Langston, and Bronik Snizaski. Can’t wait to see this team in action this season.

Returning 6x SC AAAA State Champions.
We are returning 5 state champs and 2 medalists.
Three strong freshmen who have competed successfully on the national level will be joining the line-up.
Transfer in from NY.

Eagleville (TN)

Head Coach: Jay McLemore

Eagleville had a very successful 2021 - finishing 9th in the 1A/2A State Tournament and putting 3 on the podium including State Champ Wyatt McLemore. Wyatt McLemore along with State Placer Gaberial Pennington have graduated and turned over the program to the next batch of Eagles.

Eagleville return 6 State Qualifiers including State Placer Brody McLemore - who will look to take his brother’s place on top of the podium in 2022. Brody McLemore finished 4th at 145 as a freshman and should be amongst the favorites to claim the top step in 1A this season. Eagleville also returns Erik Johnson, Jacob Pennington and Donnovin Darnell - each won matches at the state tournament a year ago and will look to claim a spot on the podium in 2022. Putting 4 Eagles on the podium could help propel Eagleville into the top 5 in 1A. Keep an eye on Tanner Hatchell, Justin Dennis, Zachary Lewis, and Joseph Williamson as well.

South Davidson (NC)

Head Coach: David House (2nd year at South Davidson)

Staff: Bobby House, Doug House, Brendan Motley, and Jay Motley

South Davidson finished a crazy 20-21 season 7th in 1A East and 6th at the 1A State Tournament - solely through the points of State Champ Tristan Hale and State Runner-up Timmy Freeze. Freeze has graduated, but Hale returns looking to claim another title in 2022. As Coach House says, “He (Hale) will be a catalyst in helping build the program back to prominence.” Keep an eye on Joe Smith who scored points at the East Region in 2021 as well as Zach Lewis and Joseph Akers - they will be counted on to help lay the foundation for future success at South Davidson.

I believe this year will can be pretty good. With 1 returning State Champion and some guys coming back out after a crazy year and some new faces in the mix this year could be a good year for the Wildcats. “Brick by Brick we are laying the foundation to something special”.
