Coach Laymon and Cochran have Villa Rica taking huge steps. And we expect 2023-2024 to be more of the same. VR returns 4 qualifiers including State Placer Austin Presley. They also return 7 others with post-season experience. Don’t be surprised to see 4 wildcats on the podium and another handful on the mats in Macon in 2024. This team is just getting started … 5A is on notice - Villa Rica is ready to climb into the top 10 this season. Keep an eye on Julian Newman, Mason, Jones, Jaylen Dunson and Riley Miller as well - each could push that number of qualifiers into double digits. - SEWrestle

Lots to like about this squad despite losing both Moss and Nguyen to graduation. Sophomore Josiah Boyden returns after making the podium as a freshman and spending the summer throwing people around. Boyden will be hunting the top step in Macon in 2024 … the big question is - who will be there with him? Nick Baker, Dylan Spencer, Nazareth Bates, and Lonnis Jordan all have post-season experience after wrestling at sectionals a year ago. If Grovetown is going to finish in the top 10-15 this year they must step up, make some noise, and punch their ticket to Macon. Keep an eye on a pair of freshmen in Landon Phillips and Braden Strickland as well as sophomore Xavier DeRamus … they will look to put themselves in the lineup this year and help Grovetown continue to build. - SEWrestle

Is this the best team in the SE? We will go with yes. They won both the Tennessee traditional and dual state titles a year ago and return nearly everyone including World Champion (yep you read that correctly) Piper Fowler. Fowler won a state title, a Fargo title, and a World title in the last 8 months and she will look to lead this team back to another title in 2024. Fortunately, Fowler isn’t the only hammer on the Cleveland squad. It isn’t hard to picture Cleveland running away with the state title and putting as many as five individuals on the top step. Medline Zunin, Makya Parker, and Diamond Yound all finished 2nd a year ago and Senna Grassman has had an outstanding summer and was 3rd in 2023 as well … each will be amongst the favorites to claim an individual title in February. Cleveland also returns Bella Harris, Anna Melton, Olivia Collins, and Kemoria Turner … don’t be surprised to see Cleveland finish with 8 medalists, a ton of points, and another title. - SEWrestle
