Rockmart Claims the Georgia 2A Duals Title

Final Bracket
Rockmart came in the top seed and diligently worked their way through the bracket. The top 3 seeds - Rockmart, Fannin, and Toombs, - each won in the opening round with Landmark Christian holding off East Jackson in the end for a 36-35 win. Fannin County and Toombs County was an exciting bottom semi with each team getting 7 wins - it ultimately came down to bonus points as Fannin had 6 falls compared to Toombs 2 falls.
Rockmart rolled in the opening round - winning every match.
Rockmart vs. Landmark Christian for a spot in the final
Landmark Christian downed the 4 seed in East Jackson and looked to try to push the 1 seed Rockmart in the semis. The two teams traded punches early with each team getting 2 wins (Rockmart led because of two falls). Luke Clay and Nahzir Turner pushed the Rockmart lead a little further before Micah Lewis earned an 8-3 decision at 175 for Landmark. Unfortunately that would be the last points Landmark would put up and Rockmart took the last 7 matches to roll to a 62-12 win.
Rockmart was steady as a rock in the finals
Fannin County got points from their hammers … Cooper Moreland earned a fall, Drake Cantrell had a 9-5 decision, and Corbin Davenport had a major decision, but every time Fannin would put up points - Rockmart was there to answer. Moreland’s pinned was matched by decisions from Garrett Pace and Bleu Winters. Cantrell’s decision was exceeded by Wilson’s pin or Turner’s pin at 165. Davenport’s major was matched by Tyler Malone’s major at 190. Every step of the way, Rockmart doubled up on the wins of Fannin (in the end Fannin ended up with 5 wins … Rockmart had 9) and Rockmart took the dual and the title.
