Final Bracket

Camden came in with the top seed and a ton of history … they were looking to add their 9 consecutive dual title to the wall, but a very talented Buford squad (as well as a very deep 7A field) stood in their way. Three of the top 4 seeds advanced to the semis … West Forsyth knocked off #3 seed Lowndes 41-28 to advance on the bottom side. Mill Creek got Camden up top … but everyone was watching for the potential showdown in the finals. This is how it played out from Camden’s perspective.

Camden rolled over a solid North Gwinnett squad. Logan Weaver got North Gwinnett 3 points, but other than that Camden shut them out and cruised 74-3.

Vs. Mill Creek

This is a match a lot of people were pointing to … Mill Creek is very talented in spots and this would be the first time we would see Camden get pushed. Hunter Prosen and Brock Weaver gave Camden 12 and Amantee Mills and Blue Stiffler brought Mill Creek back to within 3 with a tech fall and a major decision (12-9 after 4 matches). Gavin Daniels beat Banks Bitterman in a good 7-4 match at 144 and Jaheim Mills topped Ryan Banister with a major to narrow the lead once again - this time to 2 points - Camden led 15-13 after 6 matches. Matthew Bennett took a forfeit for Camden at 150 and Dom Bambinelli downed Konlin Weaver 10-3 … from there Camden added two falls to push their lead to 33-16 with 4 matches remaining. Dustin Edenfield downed John Boratyn 6-0 at 215 and the dual was out of reach for Mill Creek - 36-16 with 3 matches remaining.

Brandon Higgins comes up huge

This showdown went pretty much the way we expected … Buford won some close matches - McArthur over Santos 3-2, Pope over Daniels 4-2, and McCullough over Bannister 2-0. Camden’s hammers Konlin Weaver and Ryder Wilder added 12 at 165 and 175 and Buford’s Conor McCloskey and Aaron Riner got them 7 at 190 and 215. Jesse Batten’s fall at 285 pulled Camden within a point (22-21) as we headed to the final 4 matches. Bradley Patterson downed DJ Clarke at 106 then Brandon Higgins pinned Rylan Ibold in a huge match … Higgins led by 1 in the 3rd period when he got the fall and Camden was in control. They won 120 and 126 to make the final score 39-22.
