Hey Coach - I’m hoping that this basic page/blog will be effective in trying to gather (and share) information for the upcoming season. There are basically four things I’d like help with in helping to promote your program this coming season:
Hammers - Each week during the season I ask coaches to nominate one (or two) athletes from their teams to be recognized. This email goes out on Friday with a link to a short survey and the deadline for submission is Sunday evening. Not sure what we are looking for in a hammer nomination? Check out last year’s posts.
State of the Program - Beginning in September I will post a short profile of every team to include specific pieces of information about the 22-23 team. This email will be sent to each coach in the next few weeks … here is an example of Hewitt-Trussville’s State of the Program for last season.
Results - I don’t have time to chase results - if they are on trackwrestling then it there is no need to double our efforts (I can download those myself). But tournaments that do not have results posted online - we (I’m happy to share it with any other media outlet that might be covering your team) would really like that information.
Hosting a tournament … I always try to highlight tournaments during the week. Knowing about the tournament and which teams are scheduled to attend is very helpful in promoting the sport.
*** I’m not a huge fan of rankings, but sports fans have become accustomed to them and I think it can help promote the sport (which remains the primary motive of this website) … as a result I did Team Rankings for Alabama, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, and Tennessee. It takes time, but also generates a lot of conversation. I’m hoping to get more coaches to give feedback this year.
AS A RESULT … I NEED THE BEST CONTACT FROM YOUR COACHING STAFF FOR GETTING THIS INFORMATION. I am okay with you turning over any of this (or part of it) to an assistant coach, a parent or whoever you think would do the best job, but I need the best method for getting in touch with them (email typically works the best for me, but I am willing to work with a coach if email is a non-starter).
Also I am hoping to have each email I send (with links to every survey) posted here each week (or as often as necessary) … so if you don’t receive an email (some school systems block my attempts) then you should be able to open this Coaches blog and get the information as well.
