Mountain Brook runs the gauntlet for the 6A Title
Mortimer Jordan and Mountain Brook battled back and forth in the first 3 matches before Mountain Brook’s upperweights took control. With the dual 6-3, Jack Windle got a 13-1 major decision, Allen Baker added a fall at 197, and William Courtenay and Daniel Ellis added falls at 220 and 285. Mountain Brook led 25-6 heading to the lightweights. Wyatt Chavez added four more points with a 10-2 major decision and the Spartans were in control 29-6. Mortimer Jordan began chipping away at the lead with decisions by Caleb Wright, Aiden Morris, and Brodie Christmas from 113-126 to make the dual score 29-15. A big fall by Cruz Rainwater pulled Mortimer Jordan within striking distance (29-21) as Nathan McCain and John Leon took the mat with two matches remaining. McCain’s 5-3 win gave Mountain Brook the title.
