Huntsville downs Thompson 39-22

  • Huntsville won the close matches from 126-138, but it was John McKinney’s fall of Paxton Miller at 160 that really set Huntsville on the path to the finals. Falls by Whitmire, Wilbourn, and Kiyan Simon sealed it for Huntsville.

Smiths Station beats Enterprise 35-27

  • Smiths Station wins 8 - beats Enterprise 35-27 to make the 7A Finals. Smiths Station jumped out to the lead, but Enterprise fought back to take the lead 16-12 after 6 matches. Erik Short’s fall at 182 sparked Smiths Station to 26 points over the next 5 matches and Smiths Station next looked back.

#3 knocks off #2 … Huntsville downed Vestavia 40-24 to advance to the 7A Final 4. The Panthers used a forfeit at 120 and then close wins by Joseph Sowell at 126 and Brock Fields at 145 to push the lead to 22-3 at the halfway point. Falls from Mac Chandler and Harris Mitchell put the Rebels back in the dual - making it 22-15. John McKinney received another forfeit at 170 before Vestavia once again closed the gap with a fall at 182 by Luke Dutton and a 6-0 decision by Riggs Manown. Huntsville led 28-24 heading into the final two matches, but with a forfeit at 220 - Huntsville was guaranteed the win and advances to the 7A Final 4.

Jan 12

  • Daphne at Smiths Station (5:30 pm)

  • Enterprise at Baker (5:30 pm)

  • Bob Jones at Thompson (6:00 pm)

Enterprise jumped out to a quick lead on Baker with 3 falls and a forfeit to lead 24-0 after the first four matches. Logan Odom stopped the Enterprise roll with a 4-3 decision at 132, but pins by Konner Glavez and Cody Kirk as well as decisions by Kaemon Smith and Samuel Lynon put the dual out of reach early. Enterprise rolls to a 51-18 win and advances to the Final 4.

Thompson overcomes a 15-3 deficit to roll into the 7A Final 4. The defending champs got behind early, but wins by Will Atkinson, Caleb Gray-Lowe, Thomas Giere, and Jordan Weltzin swung the tide in their favor after 8 matches. An 11-9 decision by Williams Hu put Bob Jones back on top 18-16 after 9 matches, but Thompson’s heavy hitters stepped up and closed out the dual with 4 falls and a 12-6 decision.
