The defending Oklahoma 4A State Champs put 7 on the podium and held off Baylor to take the Knockout title back to Oklahoma. Tuttle held the top spot for much of the tournament, but it wasn’t until the beginning of the 2nd day that both Tuttle and Baylor were able to separate themselves from the field. Woodland and Tampa Jesuit rode their hammers to 3rd and 4th respectively, but couldn’t close the distance on the top 2 teams.

I wrote in the preview that I believed it would be necessary to get 7 on the podium to win it … Tuttle had 7 and Baylor had 8. Woodland and Jesuit each had 3 champs, but couldn’t get the points from their other teams to stay with the top 2. More impressive to me was the fact that both Tuttle and Baylor did it with just one champ each … Harley Andrews of Tuttle at 220 and Nick Corday of Naylor at 113. Baylor also had David Harper in the finals at 195, but he lost to top-seed Jaxon Smith in a great match.

Tuttle had 3 that finished 3rd including Hayden Brown who came in seeded 6th and really wrestled outstanding. Baylor was able to put 8 on the podium, but couldn’t close the gap with Tuttle during the placement matches (Tuttle led Baylor by single digits going into the final round). Just 3 (Corday, Garriques, and Bond) were able to win matches in the placement round and Tuttle was able to hold on for the title. Somerset finished 5th followed by a trio of Florida hammers - Palmetto Ridge, South Dade, and Southwest Miami. Cass and Woodward Academy (both from Georgia) rounded out your top 10.
