Georgia Super 32 EE Tournament - Results (Part 1 - 98-145)
Compound welcomed wrestlers from all over the country, 16 different states were listed as registered (I’m certain there weren’t that many that actually wrestled), for the Super 32 Early Entry Tournament this past Saturday in McDonough, Georgia. As has been typical of this tournament in previous years, some weight classes were very deep with some nationally-ranked wrestlers.
If you are interested in pics of the tournament please visit the pics page on the website. There are over 2,000 uploaded to the smugmug account … please be mindful of the directions on the pics page. Note: Notable doesn’t mean an “upset” … it just represents a match of kids that have previously been on the state tournament podium. Brackets. Onto the results:

Martinez, who ended up 3rd, had some solid wins including 3-1 over Westbrook, 6-3 over Jake Crapps, 6-3 over Caden Hagler, and 3-0 over Alex Walker. What happened: 126 was full of returning State Champs, State Placers, etc. and it was a wrestler from powerhouse Lake Gibson that couldn’t break the line-up last year that stole the show. Walker has sat behind some absolute hammers at Lake Gibson over the last two years … well Florida was put on notice with this tournament. Walker pinned Reese Jones in the quarters (after Jones beat Kresho 4-3 in the round of 16), then beat Nick Cambria 4-3 in the semis before downing Cox 10-4 in the finals. On the top side it was lights out from the round of 16 on … Florida Runner-up Hayden Whidden (a teammate of Walker’s at Lake Gibson) downed Brennan Watkins 1-0 before taking out top seed Joey Robinson 4-2. What happened: The bracket went pretty much as expected for Panone and Joplin - the two top seeds. Perhaps the only unexpected result was Joplin beating Panone 9-4 in the finals. Seeds:
James Latona (Wwc)

Sealey hammered the 3 quarter of the bracket - earning tech falls over Sean Pitts and Jackson Whitmire before downing Garrett Wood 19-8. His final vs. Latona was close, but Sealey was good in tough positions and earned the win 4-2 in overtime. Gray Ortis (Ironclad)
Seeds:
Jeremiah Price
Gray Ortis
Chase Hicks (Eawc)
Jake Swink (Teknique)
Cole Fort (Wilson Central)
What happened: Again I’m not sure how Sam Harris wasn’t seeded … but, like Sealey at 138, he showed that was a mistake (although his run to the finals was much closer than Sealey’s). Price was relatively unchallenged on the top side - earning 5 wins by fall, a 7-0 decision over fellow NC Aaron Faison before having to go into overtime to beat Harris for first. Harris had tough matches Jarrod Pominville 4-3 in the round of 16, 5-0 over Gray Ortis in the quarters, before beating Hicks 1-0 in the semis. Tyler Secoy wrestled very well in beating Fort 3-1 in sudden victory before dropping a match to Price and then Ortis.
