Georgia Super 32 EE Tourney - Girls Results
Compound welcomed wrestlers from all over the country, 16 different states were listed as registered (I’m certain there weren’t that many that actually wrestled), for the Super 32 Early Entry Tournament this past Saturday in McDonough, Georgia. As has been typical of this tournament in previous years, some weight classes were very deep with some nationally-ranked wrestlers.
If you are interested in pics of the tournament please visit the pics page on the website. Please know that I didn’t get there until 11 - so many of the girls were finishing or finished … so apologies for the few pics of the girls. There are over 2,000 uploaded to the smugmug account … please be mindful of the directions on the pics page. Brackets.

Heaven Fitch (Uwharrie Charter Academy)
Karlee Brooks (Valiant College Prep)
Evelyn Holmes-Smith (Assassin's Wrestling)
Aynsley Fink (Robbinsville)
Seeds:
Heaven Fitch (Uwharrie Charter Academy)
Karlee Brooks (Valiant College Prep)
Jaden Braswell (Indian Land)
Aynsley Fink (Robbinsville)
What happened: Pretty much the Heaven Fitch show. Heaven had a fall, 2 10-0 techs and then an 11-4 win over Brooks to claim the title. Brooks looked equally dominant en route the the finals before running into Fitch. I was impressed with Aenaya Vines … she lost early to Fitch then won 2 before losing to Evelyn Holmes-Smith in the consi semis. Fink vs. Braswell was back and forth - 7-6 with Fink leading when she got the fall to advance to the consi finals.

Catherine Bertrand (Mount Pisgah)
Zao Estrada (E.T garage girlz)
Genesis Cejudo (Valiant College Prep)
Janessa George (Chatfield)
Seeds:
Genesis Cejudo (Valiant College Prep)
Janessa George (Chatfield)
Zao Estrada (E.T garage girlz)
Catherine Bertrand (Mount Pisgah)
What happened: So I haven’t followed women’s freestyle a great deal, but I do know that CG Bertrand is a force on the high school scene in Georgia and Zao Estrada has been outstanding this summer at the limited number of tournaments we have had. So to see them not seeded 1 and 2 meant that Cejudo and George came in with greater accolades you might recognize the name Cejudo from Arizona … yes that is Henry’s niece I believe). Well it didn’t matter … Bertrand, the 4 seed, teched Forquer quickly and then downed top seed Cejudo 11-0. It was the 8-6 match that ended in a fall for Bertrand that was the one to watch. Estrada went 1-1 on the day, but was impressive in her win over George and then was in the match with Bertrand until the end.

Dianna Holmes (Morris fitness)
Lindsey Noble (Cambridge High School)
Catarina Velasquez (Wrestling room/ Chestatee high school)
Carly Thomas (Bob Jones)
Seeds
Dianna Holmes (Morris fitness)
Lindsey Noble (Cambridge High School)
Olivia Weiland (Roundtree)
Aliyanah Rogers (North Hall)
What happened: Dianna Holmes is a force in Georgia … and she showed she is also a force on the freestyle scene. She had 3 tech falls en route to the title including an impressive 10-0 tech fall over Lindsey Noble. Noble was also impressive and will be tough to beat this coming high school season. Catarina Velasquez and Carly Thomas both came from an unseeded spot to claim a medal. Velasquez lost to Noble in the first round and then won 3 in a row to claim 3rd. Carly Thomas downed 3rd seed Olivia Weiland and 4th seed Aliyanah Rogers to finish 4th.

Amani Jones (Compound)
Makenzie Krenz (Chatfield Wrestling Club)
Trinity Howard (Xcess Sports)
Nya Harrington (Lumpkin county)
Seeds:
Amani Jones (Compound)
Makenzie Krenz (Chatfield Wrestling Club)
What happened: Amani did Amani-like things and wrestled just over 2 minutes en route to the title. I really wanted to see Jones vs. Reagan Riddick of NC, but that didn’t materialize. Makenzie Krenz was the only other seeded wrestler and she took care of the bottom side of the bracket - beating Nur 12-2, Foster by fall (after being up 14-10), before losing to Jones. Trinity Howard beat Nya Harrington twice (once in the quarters and again in the consi finals) to claim 3rd.

Devin Patton (Texas pride)
Piper Cadden (Valiant College Prep)
Bella Hoffman (Fmhs)
May Prado (Level Up)
Seeds:
Piper Cadden (Valiant College Prep)
Devin Patton (Texas pride)
May Prado (Level Up)
April Kelly (Woodmont)
What happened: Cadden and Patton looked like the top seeds … steamrolling to the finals from their spots on the brackets. Patton then proceeded to put up an impressive 10-0 tech fall on Cadden to claim the title. The 3 and 4 seed, Prado and Kelly, met in the consi semis with Prado winning a close 13-10 decision. Hoffman bounced back from her loss to Cadden by downing Taylor Miess 20-12 and Prado 10-0.

Genevieve An (Level Up Wrestling / Kennesaw Mountain)
Vyance Cruz (Valiant College Prep)
Raven Cook (Jackson County)
Seeds
SaVannah Cosme (Chatfield Wrestling)
Raven Cook (Jackson County
Genevieve An (Level Up Wrestling / Kennesaw Mountain)
What happened: Top seed SaVannah Cosme rolled! Cosme had 2 falls in under 30 seconds each before downing Genevieve An 14-3 in the finals. An took care of the bottom side of the bracket … downing Vyance Cruz by fall to advance to the finals. Cruz in turn downed #2 seed Raven Cook (a State Qualifier in Georgia as a freshman) twice to finish 3rd.

Samantha Hauff (Apalachee HS/Roundtree)
Jade Eldridge (River Rats)
Destiny Ray (Heard county takedown)
Sarah Nicolcea (Paulding County
Seeds:
Destiny Ray (Heard county takedown)
Samantha Hauff (Apalachee HS/Roundtree)
What happened: Round robin action at 148. Hauff had a fall over Nocolcea, a tech over Ray and beat Eldridge 6-1. Eldridge upset the apple cart early with a fall over top seed Ray and then lost the 6-1 match to Hauff before bouncing back to beat Nicolcea.
160 lbs.
Sarai Sanders (Hillgrove high school)
Hannah Laws (High point Academy)
Jayde Massa (Columbia County Mat Club)
Chezney Brady (Paulding County)
What happened: Sanders was the only wrestler seeded and it was easy to see why. This was another round robin group where everyone wrestled one another and Sanders had 3 falls en route to the top step. Hannah Laws pinned Massa in the opening round and that proved to be the difference for 2nd.
