OSWrestle Jan 5 1A Rankings
6 New #1’s in the latest 1A Rankings
1A has welcomed 6 new faces to the ranks of the #1 this week. Fretwell had an outstanding Knockout and used that to demonstrate why he is the man to beat at 106 as we begin to enter the post-season. Hoskinson and Kohn (160 and 170) each did the same thing - using solid Knockout performances to vault them to the top spot in the January 5th rankings. Bas Diaz isn’t technically a new face as he was ranked #1 at 160 previously, but his win at Bill Scott and subsequent Knockout performance showed his ability to claim the top spot at 145. Senia takes the top spot at 126 and Napolitana is #1 at 138 (after Skyler Caban has moved down to 132 and Gillis taking the 138 spot in the Somerset lineup).
23 new faces in the 1A Rankings this week
Few wrestlers make the top into the top 10 midway through the season after not having been ranked in the previous rankings iteration. Lynch, Byfield, and Gamba used the last 3 weeks to demonstrate that they are a force moving forward.
Fretwell jumps to #1 at 106
After an outstanding Knockout, Christian Fretwell of Somerset is the biggest mover of the last 2 weeks. Fretwell wrestled extremely well and made the Knockout podium at 106. Duke Byfield, Scott Lynch, and Enzo Gamba both jump into the top 10 after being unranked December 15th. There were a number of other movers over the last 3 weeks - but the focus is on Clay’s Luke Boree and American Heritage Delray Beach’s Omer Barak - both made solid runs at the Knockout … proving that they will be a force come march.
