Baylor claims TN Division 2 Title over Christian Brothers

Baylor vs. CB started at 195 with a David Harper major over Gervacio Gonzalez 15-3. Connor Billinglsey answered for CB with a 5-0 decision of Heaht Snodgrass and the score was 4-3 Baylor after 2 matches. Baylors’ Matthew Smith got a huge fall for Baylor at 285 and Kade Hartline followed that up with a fall of Ropski at 106 to give Baylor a 16-3 lead. Corday added 6 more for Baylor at 113, but Wills Bronson got that 6 back with a fall at 120 - making the team score 22-9 Baylor after 6 matches. Jackson Bond and Elijah Turner got falls at 126 and 132 to push the Baylor lead to 34-9 after 8 matches.

Dayne Dalrymple put Christian Brothers back in it with a 4-0 decision of Ryan Tisdale at 138, but Garrison Dendy followed that up with a fall at 145 for Baylor - making the Baylor lead 40-12 and out of reach for a Brothers comeback. Evan Anthony and Aidan Bowers each got wins (and bonus for CB), but it was too little too late as Baylor took the Division 2 Title with a 48-21 win. Montgomery Bell Academy downed Father Ryan 36-34 on a 6-2 decision by Mason Skeets at 182 to give MBA 3rd.

SEMIFINALS

The dual began at 182 and Baylor jumped out to a quick 18-0 lead with falls from Garriques, Harper, and Snodgrass. Baylor then forfeited to Parker Petersen at 285 making the team score 18-6. Baylor added a pair of 6’s with Hartline and Corday and then won at 120 with a decision by Judson Jarret 5-3 over over Matt Oberlander. Father Ryan would get 3 more points from Joey Terry at 160 but that would be it as Baylor rolled to a 55-9 win.

Christian Brothers kicked off their semi vs. MBA with 2 falls by Theo Sewell and Gervacio Gonzalez to jump out to a 12-0 lead. MBA got on the board with a nice 6-4 overtime by Gabe Fisher over Connor Billingsley at 220 and a 2-0 decision for Max Fisher over Gabriel Croom at 285 to cut the lead to 12-6 after 4 matches. The two teams traded decisions at 106 and 113 - leaving the team score 15-9 after 6 matches. Wills Bronson got a big fall for Christian Brothers at 120, but that was matched by a fall from Carson Sberna at 126 - 21-15 after 8 matches (Bowers was winning when Sberna got the fall giving MBA a shot). Dayne Dalrymple got a major over Frank Perazzini 16-7 at 138, but Mac Russ(of MBA) got a tech at 145 to narrow the lead to 25-20 heading into the final 4 matches. Sam Lee, Evan Anthony, Aidan Bowers, and Cameron Cavins shut the door on MBA and pushed the final score to 49-20 (looking like a dominant win, but the dual was close until the last 4 weights).
