Clarksville Wins the Tennessee Girls Invitational
Finals
Another Clarksville vs. Rossview match that was close, but not close enough for Rossview (as they fell to Clarksville for the third time in three tries). Ella’Lina Gonzalez got Clarksville off to a good start at 103 with a fall of Ava Teasley. Caitlyn Miller battled Dawn Evens to a 2-1 decision to get Rossview on the board (score 6-3). Clarksville took control of the dual with two decision wins at 119 (Caila Weatherspoon) and 125 (Madelin Allen) and then got a fall from Alexia Escobedo at 132 to push Clarksville up 18-3. Rossview lost 3 of the 4 matches that went to a decision inclduing a hard fought 2-0 win for Brielle Bissonette (Clarksville) over Gabby Wilkinson at 160. If you flip those decisions to Rossview - they win the dual despite giving up 4 falls. Clarksville finished things off from 150-170 and took the title with 33-21 win. Union County bounced back to finish 3rd with a 36-24 win over Farragut.
Semifinal Matches
Clarksville got 3 forfeits to start at never looked back in taking the semifinal vs. Farragut 54-12. Caila Weatherspoon, Madelin Allen and Alexia Escobedo also got falls for Clarksville to put them up 36-0 before Makena Porter was able to get Farragut on the board.
Rossview got the start they were looking for as Justina Nilolao pinned Kayla Faulkner at 215 and Ava Teasley and Caitlyn Miller each got falls at 103 and 112 to give Rossview an 18-0 lead. Kenlei Johnson got 6 for Union County at 132, but it wouldn’t matter as Rossview cruised with a 60-6 win.
