Domenic Zaccone - Campbell (Orland Park, IL - Amos Alonzo Stagg HS)

2020-21: Posted a 2-0 mark at 125 pounds, both major decisions, in his first season at CU, outscoring opponents 20-2…Topped Aedyn Concepcion with a 10-0 major decision, and defeated Austin Wadlow in a 10-2 major decision, in back to back extra matches at Gardner-Webb…

Illinois (2019-20): Went undefeated, going a perfect 4-0 at the Maryville Open in his only action of the year…Bookended his tournament with a pin and a major decision…


Codi Russell - Appalachian State (Atlanta, GA - Collins Hill HS)

Career to date: Three-time NCAA qualifier (2019 and 2020 at 133 pounds, 2021 at 125 pounds) … SoCon Champion in 2019 (133 pounds) and 2021 (125 pounds) … Won at least one match at the 2019 and 2021 NCAAs — the 2020 event was canceled … Ended the 2021 season with a 75-38 career record.
 
2020-21: SoCon champion and All-SoCon at 125 pounds … Clinched automatic NCAA Championships berth as the SoCon’s No. 1 seed, winning an 11-4 decision against Campbell’s Zurich Storm in the final … At the NCAA Championships in St. Louis, went 1-2 with an 8-6 decision against Virginia's Patrick McCormick in his second match … Ended the season with a 14-3 record (13-1 going to St. Louis) that included nine wins worthy of bonus points … Only loss prior to NCAAs was a decision against ACC runner-up and top-10 opponent Jakob Camacho of NC State … Won 4-3 against Chattanooga's Fabian Gutierrez (ranked top 25) by erasing a 3-2 deficit on a takedown with 53 seconds left and preventing a tying escape the rest of the way ... In the summer of 2020, won two matches at USA Wrestling's Senior Nationals in Iowa.
 
2019-20: Went 26-10 at 133 pounds and earned an at-large berth to the NCAA Championships that were canceled by the coronavirus pandemic … Reached the SoCon Championship final for the second straight year and was the league’s runner-up behind a top-10 wrestler … With eight tech falls, tied for No. 8 nationally and No. 1 among wrestlers at 133 pounds … Seeded No. 29 for the NCAAs … Ranked No. 30 by the Coaches Panel following conference championship weekend and was No. 33 in the RPI before the SoCon Championship … Went 10-2 in duals and 5-2 in SoCon duals … Moving forward from preseason injury and procedure, bounced back to win 11 of his final 13 matches, with the only losses coming against Campbell’s Noah Gonser (No. 9 seed for NCAAs) … Reached the SoCon final with an 18-1 tech fall in the quarterfinal round and a 4-3 semifinal decision … Notable wins included victories against North Carolina's Jaime Hernandez (97 vs. No. 23 seed for NCAAs), Lock Haven's DJ Fehlman (5-3 vs. No. 30 seed for NCAAs) and previously ranked Anthony Cefolo of Rider (9-8).

2018-19: Automatic NCAA Championships qualifier thanks to his title at 133 pounds as the No. 2 seed during the SoCon Championship in Boone ... Went 22-12 with a 1-2 record at the NCAA Championships in Pittsburgh, where he was seeded 26th … Followed a first-round loss to Iowa’s Austin DeSanto with a second-period pin of Ohio’s Mario Guillen, then lost against Lock Haven’s DJ Fehlman. The pin against Guillen who had defeated Russell earlier in the season, was App State’s first win by fall at the NCAA Championships since 2016 … 9-4 in App State’s duals and 5-1 in SoCon duals ... Entering the NCAA Championships, was ranked No. 27 nationally by the NCAA Coaches’ Panel and No. 26 by the RPI ... Claimed a 9-4 decision against top-seeded and ranked opponent Noah Gonser of Campbell to win a title at the Southern Conference Championship in Boone. That followed a semifinal win by major decision and a quarterfinal win by technical fall ... Had wins in duals against Power Five conference opponents North Carolina and Oklahoma ... Second-place finisher at the Appalachian Open ... Went 2-1 against Campbell’s Gonser, who was ranked No. 15 during his dual win in Boone, but Russell won a 6-3 decision against him at the Hokie Open.

2017-18: Went 13-13 overall, including 6-1 in Southern Conference duals, as an App State newcomer … Southern Conference all-freshman team ... Southern Conference Tournament runner-up with an 18-1 technical fall, an 11-5 decision against the 2017 conference champion (Chattanooga’s Chris Debien) and a 5-4 loss to SIUE’s John Muldoon, who handed Russell his only league loss in another match decided by one point … Had important wins against Campbell (10-8 decision by sudden victory takedown against No. 25 Nathan Boston in App State’s 18-12 victory) and Chattanooga (pin in 4:12 against Debien in App State’s 18-16 victory) … Second place at the F&M Open and fourth place at the Hokie Open.

2016-17: Redshirt season as a college freshman who signed with NC State.

High School: Posted a career record of 220-15 … Was an NHSCA senior national champion at 120 pounds and eight-time All-American … Placed third at the NHSCA junior nationals … Finished fourth or higher at the state championships each year of high school … Was the Georgia state champion as a senior, runner-up as a junior, third as a sophomore and fourth as a freshman. ... HIGH SCHOOL: Two-time state champion and two-time runner up in high school with a 197-4 career record... Junior year was named Flo and Virginia Beach All-American... Senior year went 39-0 and was the Virginia Beach National Champion...


Malyke Hines - Lehigh (Kissimmee, FL - Osceola HS)

In 2020-21: Won EIWA championship at 133… qualified for NCAA Tournament, going 2-2 as No. 17 seed… both NCAA wins came via major decision… started three duals… bumped up to 141 to beat Binghamton’s NCAA qualifier Zack Trampe 8-7, keying dual win over the Bearcats… had 31 second fall in opening round of EIWA Tournament.

In 2019-20: Deferred eligibility… went 12-5 competing unattached at open tournaments… wrestled in four open tournaments at 141… won Mat Town Invitational II in late February… finished third at Jonathan Kaloust Bearcat Open and Edinboro Open… also competed at Princeton Open.

In high school: Three-time state champion… ranked 68th by FloWrestling and 63rd by Intermat… amassed a 267-4 high school record… first-ever four-time champion at the Knockout Tournament… two-time place winner at the Super 32 tournament… two-time finalist at the Michigan Grappler… won a title at the Escape the Rock tournament… two-time NHSCA national champion and two-time NHSCA place winner… three-time Fargo place winner… Cadet and Junior All-American.

2020-21 (Redshirt-Sophomore): Put together a 4-4 record • Earned a technical fall as he began his season with a score of 21-6 to defeat Todd Carter of Gardner-Webb • Collected back-to-back wins with a 5-3 decision over Mitch Polito of Lehigh (Feb. 6) and a 2-0 decision over No. 10 Louie Haynes of Virginia • Named ACC Wrestler of the Week on Feb. 16 • Notched a 20-5 technical fall over Drake Doolittle of Duke at the ACC Championships • Named to the All-ACC Academic Team

2019-20 (Redshirt-Freshman): Finished his redshirt season with a 22-8 record, wrestling a full year of open tournaments at 133 pounds • Placed eighth at the 2019 Midlands Championships, winning four matches • Defeated UNI’s Jack Skudlarczuk, an NCAA qualifier, at Midlands in a 4-3 decision • Was the runner-up at the Wolfpack Wrestling Club Open • Finished third at the National Collegiate Open

2018-19 (Freshman): Posted a 13-16 record as the team’s starter at 125 pounds as a true freshman • Finished fourth at the ACC Championships • Went 7-11 in duals, including a 2-3 ACC dual record • Won his first dual match at Appalachian State on November 25 • Won his first ACC dual bout against Pitt’s Brandon Fenton, a 12-3 major decision • Won six bouts with bonus points • Finished third at the Hokie Open at 125 pounds

Personal/Prep: Attended South Plainfield High School in South Plainfield, N.J. • Was a captain and a three-time state place winner • State runner-up in his senior season • Went 164-11 in his career including a 44-1 record in his senior year • Was a Spanish Honor Society Member • Brothers Nick and Troy wrestled at UNC.

• Saw action in seven matches at 141 pounds, all extra matches.
• Went 6-1 on the season, with a pin and a major decision.

2019-20
• Redshirted the season.
• Wrestled in six open tournaments, all at 133 pounds. Went 18-6.
• Top showing was a fourth place finish at the Southern Scuffle, going 5-2.
• Claimid first place honors at the Pembroke Classic and Newberry Open, both with 4-0 marks. Placed second at Appalachian State Open.

Prep
• Three-time Class 4 state champion as a senior (126), junior (120) and sophomore (113). Scored an 8-0 major decision to win as a senior. Took third as a freshman.
• Finished with a 196-11 record, including 81 career pins. Went 50-1 as a senior.
• Four-time district and Winnetonka champion and 2019 Suburban Conference Wrestler of the Year.
• Placed first at 2018 NHSCA Nationals and second at 2018 Flo Nationals. Was fifth at both the 2018 Fargo Junior Freestyle and 2018 Super 32.
