MAWA Blue Storms Through the 2022 AAU Scholastic Duals All-Star Division

Outscoring opponents 759-9, MAWA Blue went 12-0 in duals and their wrestlers earned 12 golds and 2 silver medals as individuals. Coached by Clarion University alums Jack Davis, Steve Harner, and Randy Miller, MAWA Blue and Red finished 23-1 overall in the All-Star Gold Division. The accolades for the teams didn’t end there, coach Harner was enshrined into the AAU National Wrestling Hall of Fame Class of 2022.
Freshman phenom Jude Correa (182) from Wyoming Seminary in Kingston, Pennsylvania garnered the Outstanding Wrestler Award and Most Falls in the least time, pinning 11 opponents in just 7:31. The New Hampshire native won this years National Prep Tournament at 182, the NHSCAA Freshman Title at 182, was a Powerade finalist, and a double AA at 80 kg in the USA/UWW placing 3rd in Greco and 5th in Freestyle. Jude always smiling said when asked what his inspiration was for wrestling, he replied, “I originally wanted to be a WWE wrestler”! The young man with a passion for studying History had glowing praise for his Doughboy Wrestling Club coach Mike Marshall. “Coach Marshall is like a second father to me.” Jude is currently nationally ranked 8th by WIN Magazine and 9th by Wrestling USA magazine.
MAWA Blue’s 120 pounder Mason Gibson, a Cornell commit, and rising junior is a scoring machine. Gold medalist Mason went 12-0 with 2 falls and 3 forfeits and outscored his 7 other opponents 130-30. His scores of 20-3,23-8,22-4,17-2, 20-2,23-8, and 6-3 for an average bout score of 19-4! It seems that the only thing that stops his scoring is the tech-fall rule.
The divisions wrestle in 8-10 team pools and then are divided into brackets for final placements.
