Finals
106 Joseph Uhorchuk Signal Mountain, TN (TN) F Nicolas Enzminger Bismarck, ND (ND), 1:47
Yeah … not a point scored on Uhorchuk this weekend. Uhorchuk dominated with 6 falls and a 3-0 decision of Johnathon McGinley 3-0 in the semis.
113 Antonio Mills III Dacula, GA (GA) DEC Mason Jakob kingsport, TN (TN), 6-5
These two don’t disappoint … whether we are talking freestyle or folkstyle - they are evenly matched and we always get some great action. Both wrestled to get to the finals with Jakob downing a tough Ty Murray 3-2 in the semis and Mills beat Mikey Bautista of NJ 3-2 in the quarters. Jakob got a takedown in the 1st and entered the 3rd up 3-1 on Mills in the finals. But a takedown to 3 nearfall was huge for Mills to begin the 3rd and proved the difference in a great match. Expect many more of these matches for the years to come.
120 Brandt Harer Muncy, PA (PA) MD David Perez Coventry, RI (RI), 16-2
126 Michael Turi Scranton, PA (PA) DEC Justyce Zuniga Toppenish, WA (WA), 4-3
132 Zeno Moore Orlando, FL (FL) DEC Camden Baum Dillsburg, PA (PA), 4-3
Zeno dominated early with tech falls, falls, and a major before having to grind out a semi win over Waltenbaugh 5-4 and then a 4-3 final over Camden Baum.
138 Walker Turley Chester, VA (VA) DEC Jackson Butler Windber, PA (PA), 3-2
145 Ryan Rios South El Monte, CA (CA) F Lorenzo Alston Asheboro, NC (NC), 1:08
Alston had a thrilling sudden victory takedown over top seed Creason of Virginia in the semis to punch his ticket. He took the loss to Rios by fall in the finals, but a great run for the freshman North Carolina State Champ.
152 Cael Weidemoyer Telford, PA (PA) F Billy Tyler Nokesville, VA (VA), 1:01
160 Jackson Barron MN (MN) DEC Xander Dossett McDonough, GA (GA), 1-0
What a great run by Georgia’s Xander Dossett. He downed the top seed Dominic Sumpolec 4-3 in the semis after beating Braedon Simoneaux of Louisiana 3-2 in the quarters. Winning close matches would come to an end in the finals as he fell to Barron 1-0 on an escape in the 2nd period.
170 Adam Waters Stowe, PA (PA) F Aiden Peterson Medina Ohio, OH (OH), 0:54
182 Ryder Wilder Kingsland, GA (GA) F Ryan Rowe Perkasie, PA (PA), 1:35
Georgia State Champ Ryder Wilder dominated the 182 lb. bracket - except for his 4-3 decision of top seed Nevin Mattessich of New Jersey in the semis. Wilder finished 5-0 with 3 falls, a major decision, and a 4-3 decision to claim the 182 lb. title.
195 Jason Singer Bally, PA (PA) DEC Dante Deluca Florham Park, NJ (NJ), 1-0
220 Michael Mocco Parkland, FL (FL) DEC Mark Effendian Philadelphia, PA (PA), 4-1
Top seed Michael Mocco looked unbeatable this weekend in taking the 220 lb. title. He had 2 falls and a 26-10 technical fall to begin the tournament and finished with a 9-4 decision of Alex Taylor of Ohio and a 4-1 decision of Effendian in the finals. Mocco didn’t give up a takedown all weekend … in fact if you want a takedown clinic go watch his quarterfinal matchup with Morosetti where he scored 8 takedowns in the 1st period alone.
285 Caleb Rodriguez Naples, FL (FL) DEC Christopher Belmonte New Hartford, NY (NY), 4-2 UTB
Caleb Rodriguez bounced back from a loss in the state finals to claim the 285 lb. Freshman NHSCA Title with a thrilling 4-2 UTB win over Belmonte. Rodriguez had to grind out two tough wins to claim the title (he cruised in his other wins on the weekend). He beat Travyn Boger 6-5 in the semis by getting an escape with 10 second left and then beat Belmonte on a reversal in the ultimate tiebreaker.
