• Sebastian Degennaro (FL) at 120

• Drew Gorman (GA) at 132

• EJ Solis (FL) at 138

• CJ Torres (FL) at 152

• Max Norman (TN) at 160

The only loss for the SE in the finals came when Torres downed GA’s Dominic Bambinelli in the 152 lb. finals.

Florida led the way with 3 champs followed by New Jersey and Pennsylvania who each had 2. In terms of All Americans we had …

• North Carolina had 1

• South Carolina had 1

• Tennessee had 3

Florida All Americans were a perfect 3-0 in their finals matches and were 5-1 overall in their last match of the tournament. Georgia All Americans were 4-4 in their last match of the tournament with Alabama and South Carolina each going 1-0, North Carolina 0-1, and Tennessee 2-1.

  • Sebastian Degennaro has quickly shown why he is amongst the best sophomores in the country. He dominated early in the tournament, but was also able to grind out wins over Brody Kaupp (CT) 11-5 in the quarters and Ethan Uhorchuk (TN) - 10-5 in the semis. Degennaro had a takedown in the first period of his finals and rode that to a 3-1 win and a national title.

• 132 Drew Gorman Buford, GA (GA) TF Anthony Lucchiani Stephens City, VA (VA), 18-3 3:37

  • If the NHSCA gave out an OW in each division … Georgia Drew Gorman would have been in the running at 132. The top seed dominated from start to finish and was simply on another level all weekend. 4 technical falls and 3 major decisions … no one was close. Dominated Aiden Simmons of California 17-2 in the semis and Anthony Lucchiani (VA) 18-3 in the finals.

• 138 Elvis Solis Homestead, FL (FL) F Dorian Olivarez Spring, TX (TX), 0:53

  • Like Gorman, Solis dominated 138 with one exception - a 5-4 decision of Chase Hontz of PA in the semis. Otherwise Solis was on cruise control … 4 technical falls, a 7-2 decision and then a fall of Dorian Olivarez of Texas in the 1st period of their finals match.

• 152 Claudio Torres Orlando, FL (FL) DEC Dominic Bambinelli Hoschton, GA (GA), 7-5

  • Easily one of the best finals in the Sophomore division. Lots of action and scoring with two of the best Sophomores in the country. Bambinelli got up early, but it would be an escape and takedown by Torres in the 2nd period that would give him control … a late 2nd period escape by Bamibinelli made it 4-3 heading into the 3rd. Tied after an escape early in the 3rd for Bambinelli but a quick takedown by Torres gave him the edge the rest of the match and a 7-5 win. Go back and watch these two compete if you have a chance.

• 160 Max Norman Kingsport, TN (TN) DEC Isreal Ibarra Eloy, AZ (AZ), 4-2

  • Norman wrestled lights out on his way to the 160 lb. title. He won a tough 4-2 decision of Macon Ayers (VA) in the quarters before downing top seed Ben Smith of Maryland 8-4 in the semis. A workmanlike 4-2 decision in the finals over a tough Israel Ibarra of Arizona gave him a national title.
