NHSCA Senior Champs and All Americans

Quite a run for the SE Seniors as they finished what could be their final performance of their high school careers. Although there are no “team scores” it is fairly easy to get a sense of how each state did based on the number they brought to the event compared to the number that made the podium.

New York brought 62 Seniors and finished with 4 in the finals and 7 others somewhere else on the podium. So about 18% of their Senior wrestlers are All Americans - pretty good, but is it the best?

Well in terms of Champs … nope.

  • Alabama, Georgia, and Virginia each had 2 champs with Florida having one champion (Tyler Washburn at 113).

How bout # of All Americans? Well that’s a closer as NY had 11compared to …

  • Alabama had 3

  • Florida had 9

  • Georgia had 10

  • North Carolina had 10

  • South Carolina had 1

  • Tennessee had 3

One of the most impressive things was how the SE wrestlers did in their final matches (for 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th).

In the finals the SE were 5-5, but in one of those matches we had an all SE matchup with Will Conlon of Alabama and Landen Moss of Georgia.
